Melded gives wider dispersion which is nice if the pub room is wide. Not so if it is deep/long. So, as usually, it depends on the room. Straight array will work, melded will just work better if the room is wide. You have return PM.

just found this topic and it sound to be a life saver since i live in europe (mainland).. but i just can't help but ask..

how much can you save by sourcing everything here and paying individual shipping (since not all parts can be found in one place) than just ordering everything you need from speakerhardware and pay one shipping charge ?

Depends on what you need, what's available locally, what shipping costs to where you live. No one size fits all here. I have done all: ordered from Leland, from sources within Europe and local pickup. There are pros and cons to all, you choose depending on your situation and preferences.

Note: Leland is contractually bound not to ship Eminence drivers to most European destinations. Anywhere that has a local distributor is no go, unfortunately. Various European sources available for Eminence though.

http://www.laver.co.uk/panel.asp

click on panel products on the left. When the .pdf document opens go down a bit. BB grade baltic ply. Hope reading not too far.

I used 8 1.5mm even plies. not sure you can get 5 plies.

Thanks wounded horse that's exactly what I needed. Reading is no trouble at all and Birmingham is somewhere I work regularly.

Much appreciated

Some have a hard time getting my adress, so I thought I leave it here, since the link on the first page is not valid anymore:

reiner@hardware-test.de

Tangband, Carpower, Mivoc, Faital Pro, Stageline, Beyma, BMS, Eminence, Piezos, Oberton, Warnex (Duratex), X-over parts, handles, CNC-Cutouts, etc... for all over Europe. I don´t have a onlineshop, since I mostly do Installations, mobile Pro-PA, OEM-Design, etc... But don´t hesitate to contact me and don´t forget to mention you come from this forum :)

Leland has sent me a box of goodies in the past. Piezo's, crossover components, corners and some misc hardware if I recall correctly. Keep in mind Eminence does not allow him to export their drivers. Yeah, it adds up with import duties and VAT, but you know what you get and everything from one source means you only pay for a single shipment. You can do the math of price + shipment + import + VAT, subtract convenience and reassurance and see if it is worth the costs. It was for me.

I think this page pretty much explains the process:
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/customs/tax-and-duty.htm

'...between 5 and 9 per cent, but it can be as low as 0 per cent or as high as 85 per cent'. :wall:

I've not imported goods, but am considering it, and would contact them ( :chainsaw: , :bash: ) for the commodity code.

It's the 20% VAT which is the killer.

Overall, :fingers:

So speaker cable then boy and girls, I require some. Recommended in the plans is 12awg, awg and swg are different though so 12awg works out to 14swg with 0.whatever difference.

Where's the best place to grab it from? I'm after a 100m reel so I can 'be prepared'.

E-bay or a good boat fit out supplier. I think it is 2.5 mm cable I know 10 gauge is 3.25 mm cable and it gets thinner as you go higher, I hope thats some help.

Managed to grab some 2.5mm from a place called Pro Line Audio for not much over £100. Other places were advertising cheap but not including VAT and then charging ridiculous postage costs... Shower of bastards.

Thanks.
