another project... jarray caddy

#1 Post by himhimself »

Well, covid kept us from having the normal big neighborhood 4th of july event this year - mostly because of the cost of fireworks going way up. So I lost my normal summer BFM exercise. Oh well. Decided to build a caddy for my otops this weekend. Since they sound best in pairs, mine really don't come out of their stacking brackets ever, so I'm building a wagon that will let me easily move my two pairs around. Basically a lower frame on casters, and then some top corner edges, plus one in the center to keep them from knocking together, that will strap up the whole assembly. The otops face each other, grill to grill. I think I'm going to pick up some cheap indoor/outdoor carpet to line the parts that touch the cabs. I will post pictures soon.
Hope you all only blew up what you meant to blow up the last few days...

Crud, thought I had some 1/4-20 machine screws to install the casters. Oh well, looks like I’ll be into this project for a few bucks instead of totally free.

Nice. What kind of wheels you got on it? Ones that'll roll over uneven ground or grass I hope. Do you wrap tow-straps all the way around or hook them on something?
I got a small aluminum fold-up cart that works great for rolling around my OT's and racks. Also, a fold-up hand cart/dolly that's paid for itself numerous times over. If only I can remember to bring them.
BFM builds:

TrT 5" MCM 55-2421
AT 18" JBL GTO804
2x OT12 flat array
2x SLA Pro 2-Alpha 6's 2-Goldwoods
2x T39 24" 3012lf
Simplex 10 BP102

Ha, no off road wheels, jimbo. Just some smooth-rolling, high-quality casters that were being discarded, so I just HAD to repurpose. I used u-bolts upside down, through t-nuts, the sled, and then the caster plate on all four corners so I have a place to clip a pull strap, plus they'll serve as anchor points for the straps that will go over the top of the cabs. Not sure if that makes sense - i'll post some pics to show.

Granted it's just a side view of the J Array's... they look so cleanly executed. Symmetry from one to the next looks spot on

Tried to get a pic to show how I installed the anchor points. I think I’m going to remove a little material from both the sled and the jarray stacking base to make it a little easier to slip the pull strap carabiners on.
