Plans in metric diamensions

#1 Post by jemo1234567890 »

Hello all,

I'm from Germany and would like to ask if Bill's plans are available in metric dimensions or only in imperial.

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards
Josh

Only imperial. You can measure each part in the sketchup model to find the metric dimensions, or just multiply the dimensions shown in inches by 2.54. You may even use an on line calculator.

Are the sketchup model included with the plans when I order them?

I'm in Europe too. I started my first build project with a spreadsheet converting all dimensions to metric. As I went along I gradually got somewhat used to the imperial dimensions, too. By now I think I'd do one in imperial just as well, mostly without conversions. It helps to have some rulers / tape measures with both metric and imperial.

One can hardly find a tape measure in the US that's not marked in both imperial and metric.

Here in belgium they are rare. I have them but only because i used to work on c-130's that are obviously designed with the imperial system.
building BFM speakers isn't a hobby , it's an addiction

1 x THT
1 x autotuba
2 x dr250 melded

2 x wedgehorn 10
2 x tlah

I have two steel rulers that I bought at Hornbach here in Sweden. They are metric on one side and imperial on the other (with one edge with the usual fractions, and one with 1/10 & 1/20 divisions). The shorter is 60 cm / 24 inches, and the longer is 100 cm / 40 inches. I've used them a lot when building BF speakers. Not much use for the imperial scale otherwise, but it has helped me a lot in being able to get a handle on the relationship between the two systems. These days, I don't have any difficulty making a mental assessment of (for example) how much 14 inches is.
In build order:
O12 with no tweeter.
3 x WedgeHorns.
2 x Jack 10 without tweeters.
2 x DR250.
2 x 16" T39
1 x Tuba 24
2 x SLA Pro (sort of...)
