Midwest deals

#1 Post by himhimself »

For those of you who shop at Menards and take advantage of their rebates, they have tubes of PL on sale this week for $1.99 after rebate. Also, found some of the stores have really nice 1/2" baltic birch panels that are approx. 23x23 for $2.99 each, and I even saw them recently marked down to $1.99 each. I'm guessing they sliced up a bunch of sheets that were edge damaged maybe? My store has several hundred in stock. That's like $16 per 4x8 sheet - sure, a little more scrap and can't get the big panels out of it, but perfect for the guts of the T30s I'm prepping to build.
The plywood SKU is 125-4000 if you want to search and see if your store has any, or search Russian Birch.

So I bought 2 dozen of the "russian birch" panels this weekend. They were hiding in the contractor building section towards the back, stacked on an end-cap. All were 20"x20" and had the same number of plys with a thin veneer on both sides. You think it'll work?

I also saw that some of them had a thinner veneer than others. Some had a red or blue strip on the edge and some of them had a lot of knots, i wasn't too impressed.
I was able to dig through the stack and find some good pieces.

I avoided the knots and some had orange paint on the side. I figure they'll be convenient for braces or smaller panels. My buddy has a DIY CNC that I could use to my advantage.
