Need help remembering...

#1 Post by detroitrockphily »

Back for my second build, this time a 3012LF loaded T39 (24") with a twist... I purchased parts for the build back in May of 13 backburning ever since...! so I'm having problems identifying 1 of the parts...
I know I ordered it from speakerhardware for an 8ohm driver

Metal core inductor. Judging by the relative size, I'd say its a big'un.

Leland, any idea how many mH's?

That's to be used for a passive crossover in the T39. Are you using an active crossover? if so, you won't be using that.

I used a passive crossover in my T24.....works fine for that application I use it for.

6 - T39 3012LF
4 - OT12 2512
1 - T24
1 - SLA Pro
2 - XF210

A 500w inductor, 16 gauge, possibly 15-17 mH, for 6db/octave lo-pass at ~100hz, for a 10 ohm load. My best guess because I had ordered one a number of years ago through Leland. Forum member Gauss used one like that in his T39, of which he used under his bass cab, if memory serves me right.

Ok! With that said, how does it get wired in? Is there a better alternative? I'll be using this T39 to aid in FOH when my band plays a venue that does not provide a PA. All this electronic stuff is new to me.

If you have an active crossover in your PA, you won't need it. Once you answer that question, we can go from there.

4 - OT12 2512
1 - T24

2 - XF210

You should. You need to list what you have.

We have to EV side fills, 2 older Peavey 2/15 3 way tops & 2 Peavey 18's
Allen Heath mixer, older cs 800 amps. No proccesors, no effects (save for what the board offers) & no floor monitors. It's as simple as it gets. T39 will replace the cumbersome 18's and would like to use the dual input jack... 1 input would be passive the other would be direct if we ever get a real crossover

A couple of questions then: Are you happy with your sound? Have you heard a BF PA system?
2xJ12L (3012HO) switchable/melded
2xT30

Words&graphics - Audio&Acoustics - Hardware&DSP; 3 different paradigms.

Not in person, no. In the future I'd love to build tops to compliment the T39's
Something simple would get the job done. The guys LOVE the table tuba I built yrs ago and said if you ever get the itch, build some FOH. BTW the majority of our venues provide PA so I'm only building a simple system for when we need it.

The system we use 'works' albeit, not the way we would like.

How and why are you running mains and subs without a crossover?

Cabs we are currently using are crossed over... passively. The boards are internal and have never sounded 'great'.

You mean that the subs have built in low pass filters and the mains built in high pass filters? I could be wrong, but I doubt that's the case. Do you have separate amps for the subs and mains?
