Cheap European 8 inch driver
If anyone like my self have been searching the european market for a cheap 8 inch driver as an alternative to the MCM driver (which only seems to be available in the land of the free) or the Tang Band W8-740 maybe the Omnes Audio W8-670Z would fit your wallet at less than €30.
Parameters are looking promising except for the low power handling of 100 WRMS.
Fs 38Hz
Qts 0,42
Vas 21,2L
Xmax 12mm
I'm thinking of using this in my TAT. Anyone tried this unit already?

Hi,
Sorry there's no link to TS specs or an SPL chart, or dimensions.
The highlighted link shows a pretty pic and that's it...

Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

Re: Cheap European 8 inch driver
Vas and Fs should be OK but the qts is a bit high.
Only Bill will be able to say whether or not it's usable - good find though.
At only 30 Euros, it's worth a shot in a TAT, T18 etc.

It should be fine.

I'm happy for the Europeans in that they have an inexpensive option.

Re: Cheap European 8 inch driver
I've just ordered 4 of these drivers, I'll report back on their build quality compared to the Tang Band when I get them.

Probably not as good, but that's because TB are very nice. It may be comparable to the MCM.Chris_Allen wrote:I've just ordered 4 of these drivers, I'll report back on their build quality compared to the Tang Band when I get them.

Re: Cheap European 8 inch driver
I received the drivers last week, which is great turnaround from delivery from Germany.
This picture shows the Omnes Audio driver in the bottom left and clockwise, the Beta 10, BP102 and Alpha 8.
The driver feels solid, foam looks good and the wiring looks decent. Magnet is small compared to all the eminence drivers (but what would you expect for the price!) I can't find the Tang Band at the moment. Probably hidden somewhere in the pile of drivers.
What am I going to use them for? Err.. Probably T18 but I think I have a problem as my pile of unused drivers is huge.

So, how was it? Thinking about buying 2 of this driver and build a dual driven table tuba

Series-wire them, then. Doubles the voltage handling. At less than €30 each, it is a winner for the EU folks!nifferen wrote:So, how was it? Thinking about buying 2 of this driver and build a dual driven table tuba
I know money often seals the deal, but seriously, quality is an investment, not an expense... Grant Bunter

That was the plan I had, maybe a 24" T18.DJPhatman wrote:Series-wire them, then. Doubles the voltage handling. At less than €30 each, it is a winner for the EU folks!

Re: Cheap European 8 inch driver
And almost 3 years later I have finally tested the driver in a TAT. It sounds awesome! Driven by the headunit with the rear channels bridged and crossed over at 63Hz I am amazed everytime I crank up the volume. A dedicated amplifier wouldn't hurt, but the sound level this produces is more than I can stand for more than a few minutes.
