Melded piezo array switching - Full/Half/Off

That's how it's done using a DPDT 3 indent position switch ( mid position off )

Harley, as you've got it, there are four 'sets' of four piezos, obviously for a full array of 16 for a jack 12 or similar. I'm doing an array of 8 melded, with the DPDT switching. So is it wired simply as four 'sets' of two piezos? Sorry if its a dumb question, just a newb with the wiring!
Cheers, Tim.
Built:
2 x Jack 112
2512, one with melded array

J112 has 16 total tweets, so 2 sets of 8 opposed tweets. If you have 8 total tweets, that's 2 sets of 4 so from my diagramme above, take 4 opposed tweets out of each section - thus;

..that's if you want full/half/off switching, which I wouldn't personally bother with when I just have 8 tweets. With 8, for me it would be full on or off

I assume this would work just fine for OTops too? Thanks, Harley!! OTOH, now I've got MORE parts to buy for the OTops I'm building. :broke:

For Otops, ( 12 tweets in total for OT112 ) I personally wouldn't wother with a 1/2-full-off switch as these are tops as distinct to Jacks, which are mainly an elect bass or keyboard cab.

However, if you'd like the luxury of the 1/2-full-off switching, then knock your socks off - it's simple enough to wire.

Thanks for the input, Harley. I'm just building my first set of OTops, whereas you've built about 528 of them, give or take 1 or 2. :lol: So, I'm going to defer to your experience. :mrgreen: If I find them too bright, that's what EQ is for.

Having a little trouble wrapping my head around this -- for example, why does the positive lead only need to be wired to the center?

What I would like is for the switch to be wired so that the middle is half, while the outside positions are off and full. Is this possible or does OFF have to be in the center?

Thanks

It just so happens to be that, that is the way the switch is physically configured. Take an outside terminal and feed it to your middle tweets, and use the other terminal for the top and bottom tweets. There would have to be a wire that ran from the top sets, down past the middle sets (but not wired to them) and wired to the bottom sets

I see diagrams for 8 & 16 tweeters. Can 6 be wired like this?
