Thanks Grant.
For some reason I wasn't subscribed to this topic (am now).
Thanks for the advice.
I'll go with ShipItTo.

Cheers all
Yes I do have experience. My monthly parties are outdoors and I haven't had a speaker fall apart yet

Seriously though, I know that the Everbuild Lumberjack (European) variety of PL resists a LOT:

Fully water proof to EN204 D4, including seawater
Excellent chemical resistance
So as a guess, you'd be ok.

I have had two boxes sent and not been inspected nor paid extra duty on either.

It is not misleading to have the descriptor as: 2 x T39 kit. Fullstop. Because that's what it is.
That customs don't know what a T39 kit is is not your problem.
There is nothing that says that any kit has to be itemised on the Declaration.
I used shipito and selected the best shipping price available.
Note: You have to have a TNT account to use TNT.
DHL express (not DHL) ex california is good and door to door.

And if they have any doubt, they will inspect anyway...
T39 kit? Even if you itemised, I doubt what they'd know what most items are... would a customs guy know what a DeltaLite 2512 or Lab 12 was?
You could easily dress up everything you buy in teckky speak that would make the label undecipherable to any customs bloke - but that might make him more keen to learn what a Delta Light is, or who the Lab 12 are.
You *could* always get the shipper to put "faulty DeltaLite 2512 speaker" on the label (or "Faulty speaker drivers for repair"). 'Faulty' could be any number of things, but I would think an item marked as faulty would reduce the "customs price" (significantly, if not completely). Of course it would be very wrong to do this & you shouldn't!! It would take money away from our government who tax us at every single opportunity they get. They might also slap you on the wrist for being very naughty. OTOH how are they going to prove that they aren't faulty unless they measure every T/S parameter to check that they match up (and that's assuming that they know of T/S parameters!!)? And seeing that customs seems to be optional anyway (sometimes you get charged and sometimes you don't) why not avoid the payment altogether?? As I said though, this is wrong, and you shouldn't do it. :cop: :cop: :cop: :cop: :cop: :cop: :cop: :cop: :cop:

The problem is I as a shipper have to be able to defend the valuation on the package. It doesn't just nail you, it does me too.
If it's too loud, you're even older than me! Like me.

Don't worry Leland.
I will be doing as Grant has suggested and declare full value, and package description as "Two T39 kits".

Bother,

Essential Audio, according to their website, has closed down.
So a source of somewhat reasonable Eminence supply (compared to RRP) gone.

Other sources locally:

On Aussie ebay you might find seller "goldentone1950" stocks some items, and erics guitar and PA sells there at time as well.

Or go straight to eric's and see if they could get them in at a reasonable price:
http://www.erics.com.au/index.a5w
I might be inclined to try this myself.

Or Ceceres in Adelaide. Ceceres have a direct association with the importer (Music Connection), so you'll likely to pay top dollar there.

Or go the "other" method...
Built:
DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.
WH8: x 6 with melded array wired series/parallel.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

Sad to hear.

Set up a 'ship to' forwarder in the USA and get Leland to ship drivers to them.

My wife does this with Lego she collects - buys off eBay, instructs to send to the consolidator/forwarder and then they ship. The shipping rates are great too.

As I said, or go the other method lol.

Seriously, there were some drivers it was at worst cost neutral, or maybe even save a few dollars, for example, at the time I bought my BP102's, compared to buying cheaper OS but paying more freight.
You get warranty when you buy local.

I did have some other stuff sent though...

These guys are now selling Dayton audio,
At the time I typed this, the Dayton audio dcs 8" sub is $82.00, on PE it's currently $52usd so say.....62-65ish aud plus shipping...... So most likely cheaper than importing.

Everything onsite is currently on "back order" so they are possibly drop selling from parts express? (Just a hypothesis)

Anyway they have pretty much the whole lineup, plate amps included.
2 x 24" T48 - 3015lf
1x 19" TAT - jbl 1014 (A mate blew the JBL, now has infinity1060w)

To come......
4xDR280's 3012HO (Almost complete!!!)

Eminence only have one importer in Australia, and therefore he charges exorbitant prices, plus shipping as they are in WA.

YMMV, but in my experience it is far cheaper to import Eminence drivers using Leland Crook's http://www.speakerhardware.com/ and http://www.shipito.com/.
And Leland's kits and his helpful assistance is well worth the small inconvenience of dealing overseas.

Worth supporting IMO, check out Paul's blog Red Spade Audio - I hope he does well from LSK as he gives back a lot to the DIY community

Definitely.
I may sound like I don't buy locally. But I do - every chance I get, even if it costs a few dollars more. But I pull the pin at supporting someone who's mark-up doesn't reflect fair trading.

The LSK have lots of great looking designs. I still haven't read any independent reviews.
It's great that they have recovered from their fatal decision to move to WA. However, I know nothing of the new owners.
