All in one cherry; center and sub channel

#1 Post by Scott Brochu »

I recently just made a combination center channel, TTLP and av equipment entertainment center all in one.
It is made out of cherry with plywood interior wall and back.
Believe it or not my wife likes it without the center channel cover. I like the sleek look with the black nylon fabric stretched.
The nylon is held on by a 1/4"OD plastic hose (hydroponic hose hard kind) and pushed in a 1/2" deep x 1/4" cut out groove in the door frame. (basically instead of the floating raised panel I put the nylon).
I also mounted the 100watt plate amp on the side above the TTLP sub mouth, which is also covered in nylon.
It has a small PC fan in the back sucking out the heat of the XBox one, tuner and cable box.
dimensions; 62"x20"x39.5"tall, recessed false floor for the sub to allow maximum space above. basically it sits lower than the skirting so I could keep the overall height down.
Bill just needs to make a smaller design of L,R channels so I could incorporate them in this cabinet.
The small little pockets on the side of the center channel hide my sons games and gaming controllers. The other side holds my daughters.
All nylon covered screens are also made out fo cherry and is held on with 2-3 earth magnets, except the bottom three doors with are hinged and has magnets to keep it closed.
None of the figures rattle or shake due to the sub and center channel mounted on rubber. No wood on wood shimmy or shake.

You wouldn't want to do that. L/R speakers need to be spread wide enough so that they're heard as distinctly left or right, at least six feet in an average room.

Deep down I knew that.
Maybe some stand alone L,R channels.
What a package that would be.

Matching SLAs with matching stands or shelves for wall mounting would be nice.
