built t30 fast for my special bedroom bed

#1 Post by eshadeol »

Instead of purchasing an expensive bed for storage and rest- for a 11 x 11 or so room in an old craftsman bungalow home, I bought a bunch of file cabinets , all of them are true 29" tall. 6 of the 2 drawer shelves were all their original color "office drawer tan" , their all metal and sturdy. Not overly heavy for their purpose and size, they hold my nick knacks, headphone, hygiene supp., socks & boxers, head shaver , and of course -my tempurpedic queen bed. Nobody frame is required. I'm a tall guy anyways and all I do is hop on a bit to get into sleep mode.

Well, 1 year later I figured I'd throw in my wireless samsung subwoofer into the crawlspaces under the bed and between the file cabinets. I used a couple pieces of 8x4 ft. birch to sit my mattress atop the file cabinets- cabinets were painted to be reflective and not dark - dark colors make the room look smaller.
Back to my point, I got tired of the Samsung bass.

I bought the T30 plans, the most economical driver, and a 100$ subwoofer plate amp from Parts Express. I already had some Yamaha permanent install speakers from a church which I had purchased over at Craigslist, and I hung them from the ceiling using a garage ceiling storage shelf X 2.

The T30 sounds great for monitoring remixes / playback. I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE IT. I can only crank the 300 watt max amp from P.E. LESS THAN 1/10th.... Less than 1/10th%! It makes the room vibrate at more volume. The T30 has boundary loading BIG TIME! - first off my bed, second the labyrinth of file cabinets under the bed, and third the room itself. I just can't believe it. I have 4 T60's for outdoors which gives you the gut feeling at low frequencies, but, i only get to enjoy that once a year.

P.S. those wireless subwoofers sound very inaccurate compared with wired, what's up with that? Not transmitting all the information, instead, whatever it can transmit coupled with whatever frequencies can be received? Cell phones and wireless network in the house? Yep, that's what it is theoretically, but I probably will never look at the specific cause.

Thanks you SO MUCH Bill Fitzmaurice.

Last one- figured it out

Don't feel bad about my little piece of life. I have a life and I'm very interested in self preservation with a dollop of work ethic, pets, k.i.s.s., family, and music.
