New WH8
I know the change has been out for a bit. I finally did a pair for a customer. It's a great box. Blows my original design WH8's out of the water. Sounds like the WH10 original, which was a really good cab. Kudos Bill.

Hi Leyland
Glad to hear that, as I'm almost finished with my W10's also the new design.
Can't wait.

Leland, could you elaborate on what is better about the new design? I have three WH8s I built three years ago. Maybe I'm looking for an excuse to build more cabs...

Re: New WH8
How about a cab that just sounds really good. The original was loud as hell, with eq got pretty good sound. The mid in this one is just as strong, but far smoother. More bottom end too. If my sons band was still running I'd replace them. Worth the effort.

Re: New WH8
If you think they're good build a W6. Mine sounded nice with a 7 band EQ, but I just added a DEQ2496 to my system and now they're stunning, from a package that's silly small, and with the 2496 FBD they'll take your head off before they'll feedback.LelandCrooks wrote:How about a cab that just sounds really good. Thanks. I didn't get any pics after I made grilles for them. Actually Sam built these, I just did the finishing work. He's gotten better than I am.

Those tweeter horns looke like they were molded that way. Mine definitely do not stand up to high res photo scrutiny. You guys are pros.

How many mics does that handle Bill? We have 4 mics in our group.Bill Fitzmaurice wrote: but I just added a DEQ2496 .

Re: New WH8
Excellent Leland/Sam!
Great to see these builds before I take them on myself down the track.
Harley, you'd ideally want one 2496 per monitor send I'd imagine. How many mikes doesn't matter so much as monitor placement.
If you do all your vocal mikes on one send you need one DEQ 2496, with some slight tweaking of monitor position if the DEQ doesn't cope. If you have a separate send for drums or keys etc, you would need another DEQ 2496 for each of those...

DR 250: x 2 melded array, 2x CD horn, March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" KL3010LF , 2 x 28" 3012LF.

Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

Re: New WH8
If you use just one monitor signal, that's ok. The feedback eliminator works just like it would on the mains. It will detect feedback from any mic and adjust the entire monitor mix. Feedback doesn't necessarily come from the monitor closest to the mic.Harley wrote:How many mics does that handle Bill? Stick one on the monitor out and you'll be fine. I'm running my monitors off a driverack. One send on L and one on R so I can have two monitor mixes.
6 - T39 3012LF
4 - OT12 2512
1 - T24
1 - SLA Pro
2 - XF210

Re: New WH8
Not necessary. I have mine using one channel for the mains, one for the monitors. So long as all your monitors are the same one EQ patch works for all. As for the FBD, it has ten frequency bands, so that accounts for the differences in monitor locations and different mics.Grant Bunter wrote:
