Tuba Time: T36 24" 3015lf

#1 Post by Josh Sense »

#1 was dropped off over the weekend. this thing is intimidating to look at, but not a big issue to move even for me being 5'4" 145lbs .

i don't want to risk any damage while i'm saving for DSP..

Hooked it up to one channel of a qsc rmx 2450 with the 30hz hpf engaged. used a 31 band eq to cut everything below 31.5 and above 100hz, set it up against the wall and even at super low levels i'm rattling stuff off the walls in my house. i can't wait to get to crank this one and it's future mates up.

Yeah, those subs Rock.

Try making your 31 band a mirror image of the response graph from the plans. This will help give you very even rich sound down there. Try it.

playing some house and other stuff on her today.

- does get All The Way Down
but every track i've played so far - mainly house, and some hip hop. doesn't have very much at all below 40hz.

i haven't had the guts to try out some of my wonkier-stuff - like some old speed garage tunes yet in the house.

on the tops i'm currently using (club 15's) i'm cutting everything below 100hz on my graphic eq, and above 100 on the t36. my tops go down to 60hz supposedly, so i dunno.

That's not how you frequency assign. You must use an electronic crossover.

technically speaking, can i get by doing some smaller gigs with just a typical 2 way/3way crossover, or do i need a limiter / dsp

Depends on how much risk you want to take. The sub horns don't complain like a direct radiator will... they'll just take more and more power until they go poof and work no more.

If you are referring to the T36, it went like Crystal Clear Pepsi when the T60 came out.
2x T39, 1x T60, 1x THTLP, 1x AT(not built by me) 6x DR250
I need more bass

picked up mx882 + dcx2496. charles chase hooked me up with a sweet duratex job.

i resized the pic like 10 times and it says its too big so too bad for you guys

i finally got everything hooked up and time to actually turn it on without disturbing too many people. the dcx2496 is a beast, and for someone like me who has grown fond of turning knobs and pushing faders for the past 15 years, its challenging. i have a very basic setup running LH LH LH, output 1 goes to channel 1 of a RMX2450 to power the tuba. output 2 goes to the other side powering 2 x yamaha club 15"s. to start , i have the xover point set at 100hz. the yamaha's can go lower and are 'punchy' enough, so i am thinking about messing around with the settings a bit.

i have not gotten as far as the delay or deq.

more to come.

Build a pair (or 2) of DR250, and lose those heavy ass Yamaha Club IV 15's! I had a pair and got rid of them like a bad relationship. Just a pair of DR250s will kill those Yamaha's, 2 pair will just dominate. BTW, 2 DR250 will weigh close to the same as on of your Club 15.
