Selling BFM cabs

#1 Post by Bill Fitzmaurice » Wed Oct 22, 2008 11:31 am

Building cabs from our plans for retail sale requires having an Authorized Builder franchise. You may list used cabs here, but if you are not an Authorized Builder new cab sales are not allowed. BFM cabs offered for sale must be truly 'used', and in keeping with the market value of used gear they may not be priced at more than 40% of the Equivalent Retail Value of the cab as posted on the website catalog pages for each model. Cab ads with no listed prices or prices that deviate from this policy will be summarily deleted.

Is this a change from past policy? As I understood the previous policy, an end user could purchase plans and then contract someone else to build them.

That's not the same thing as building cabs for the purpose of selling them. This is not a change in policy, just a reminder that buying plans does not entitle one to sell new cabs.

You can sell a new cab to a third party by purchasing a set of plans, and including those plans with the sale.
Your plans remain with you. They are not transferable.

No matter what the reason for selling new cabs, they must have a copy of the plans included.
If you sell four cabs to a single buyer, a single set of plans is required.
Four separate buyers requires four separate PURCHASED copies of the plans

You cannot build a cab, play one gig or test it for five minutes and call it a "used" cab to bypass the rules.
Use the honor system here, please.
This is Bill's intellectual property. Please respect his rights this.
My biggest worry is that when I'm dead and gone, my wife will sell my toys for what I said I paid for them.
