Horn loaded subs always work better when you use lots of them. Which to choose? What determines sensitivity is the frontal area of the sub stack, so figure out how to maximize that without exceeding your transportation capability. For instance, one 24 inch wide T48 is 16 cubic feet in volume, while two 18 inch wide T39s are about the same. But the frontal area of the T48 is eight square feet, while that of the two T39s 9.75 square feet. Factor in the higher power handling of two drivers compared to one and the dual T39 option is better. The advantage only shifts to the larger boxes when you're using at least four of them, and their longer horn paths become a signficant factor.
