should i treat the plywood with some penetration?

#1 Post by holzboss »

I am going to build tuba 60. And i dont know if i should treat the wood with some penetration so it doesnt go bad. Or when in bad weather so it doesnt break so fast.
So can I or should i penetrate the wood? so it withstands more?

Most people seem to paint the mouths and visible part of the throats.
2 DR250s, 2 27" Lab15 T-60s, 2 30" Neo Titan 39s, 1 Autotuba...and looking for more!

If, for some reason you plan to store them outdoors and relatively uncovered, or there's some other reason they may see repeated and sustained exposure to the elements, it may not be a bad idea to paint a couple coats of fiberglass resin throughout the innards of the cab. Otherwise, I really wouldn't go through the added time and expense... unless, of coarse, you just want to... Which is the beauty of DIY stuff.

Did you find the right ply finally?
