Tuba 30 standard sizes availiable

#1 Post by John W »

Do the tuba 30 plans come in standard sizes? besides 30x30x30? With this design do dual drivers have an advantage?

The Tuba 30 Plans wrote:The cabinet may be built in a variety of widths. Going wider improves performance, but also makes transportation more difficult, so build your cabs as wide as possible without making them too difficult to load, fit through doors or lug up stairs. The width range for tens is 13 to 20 inches external, using 12 to 19 inch wide panels. The exterior width range with twelves is 16 to 30 inches, using 15 to 29 inch wide panels.

You may build the T30 in 2x10 and 2x12 versions. A 2x10 can be made as small as 24 inches wide, using 23 inch wide panels. A 2x12 may be as narrow as 29 inches, using 28 inch panels. When considering a 2x cab keep in mind that two 1x cabs will have the same response as one 2x cab of twice the size, and that carrying two smaller cabs is a lot easier than one larger one. The main reason you’d use a 2x cab is to wire the drivers in series, for a higher impedance load. That allows using twice as many cabs per amp channel, which can be beneficial with a large system.

Hi and welcome :)
The plans will allow you to build either single or dual loaded, and as wide (Or narrow) as you want within the limits defined in the plans, with any considerations stated.
Don't be firm on width unless you know exactly how much pack space you have for both transport and storage.
Ask us lots of questions. We love to be helpful....

How To Order Plans

When I initially ordered plans, I got 3. AutoTuba, DR200, and T24.

I have since ordered the CD with all the plans. And, I would recommend ordering them all to anyone. I've read just about every one now. They're decent reading material for pass time and it's fairly interesting going through all the designs in more detail than just the sale page offers. In some cases there's graphs and more specific info in the plans that's not presented on the sales page of here in the forums.

If you do you'll get an email in return directing you to the 'How to Order Plans' page.

I am building a array style system for my use, 8 unit upper array and dual subs. need recomendations on single or dual sub drives as it relates to speed/ depth / accuracy, there is so much info out there ? Lokking at the specs most of the 12" drivers don't reach much below 40 at best? so you have to go larger but not sure if I am giving up accuracy? Thoughts??

Hi John. What is your intended use? Live music, recorded music, church services, home theater? Indoors, outdoors, mobile, perminent install? Room size?

Ok, so a permanent, indoor install in a 25x30 room.....what does Recorder music review mean? What type of music is that? The musical content will determine which cab you should build.
