Re: T60 Build, problem with braces
I'm confused.....which braces in a T60 don't get glued?
6 - T39 3012LF
4 - OT12 2512
1 - T24
1 - SLA Pro
2 - XF210

Re: T60 Build, problem with braces
What glue did you use?
Re: T60 Build, problem with braces
Hi Bill, I'ts Polyurethane Adhesive, Ketol K-515 (I'm from Argentina)
Re: T60 Build, problem with braces
Are you using enough glue? All the urethane adhesives I've used foam out of the joints as they cure. I wasn't able to see evidence of that in your video. Also, are you securing your joints so that they have some compression while they cure? Clamps, screws, brads?
My 3rd guess was going to be too little humidity, but according to the weather forecast for your area, it's 68% relative with mild temperatures. I don't think that's the issue.
Do you have a web link to the glue you used? Not getting a single thing in my search.

Hi Seth, yes I'm using plenty of glue. As you can see in the picture, I'm using a piece of ply and nails to join the parts, this is the PDF of the glue (it's in spanish) https://www.miceli.com.ar/wp-content/up ... /k-515.pdfSethRocksYou wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 5:12 pm Are you using enough glue? Ah! Found it. It's Kekol, not Ketol.flashero wrote: ↑Wed Jun 24, 2020 5:27 pmHi Seth, yes I'm using plenty of glue. How long did it dry before testing it?

About 8 hours.
Re: T60 Build, problem with braces
The cure time is stated as 24 hours, variable with humidity and temperature.
Here's what I'd try... instead of butting the parts end to end, cut each piece full length and glue the full overlapped portion for increased bonding surface area. Also, I may try spritzing the joint with water and keep it in a warm place for at least 24 hours. I'd try it out on test pieces first until I found an acceptable solution.

Re: T60 Build, problem with braces
Here's what Gorilla Glue (popular option here in the States) looks like after curing. Gorilla Glue is an expanding polyurethane adhesive, however it is not recommended as a construction adhesive for any Bill Fitzmaurice designs that require airtight construction.
I'd think the glue you're using would/should look similar once cured.
In any case, you just have to do the best with what's available in your area if you can't find the recommended adhesive, PL Premium Construction Adhesive.

Re: T60 Build, problem with braces
That looks worth a try. Black paint will hide that pretty well too. I'm curious how and what works out for you in the end. Please keep us posted on your success or lack of success. Could help someone else in the future. Good luck

Re: T60 Build, problem with braces
A very basic lap joint would look better than that, and even have a little more contact area.

Thank you, yes, the problem is there is more than 400 parts to mill, for the braces xDRich4349 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 9:49 am A very basic lap joint would look better than that, and even have a little more contact area.
