which tuba?

#1 Post by saved » Fri Aug 31, 2018 1:22 pm

Hi there,
First topic here,i am the new newbie.
Looking to build a tuba.I already have an eminence 3015LF from an other build,so i can use it and build a tuba for cheap.
The problem is,i dont know which one tuba goes lower using this driver.
After this,i will like to build the tuba that goes lower from all the others with any speaker it needs.
Space and volume are not issues.I want them for home use and they will be never need to move out of the room.
So,which plans should i order?
Thank you in advance

Sorry, but the 3015LF is not suitable for any of the Tubas. You can build a Titan 48 with it. In a home theater situation, you should be able to get pretty low with it. Not down to the 20hz range, but with proper limiting, I'd guess you could do 35hz with one cab in a house as long as you limit it properly.....and don't try to peel the paint. But, it's really a pro-sound cab.

6 - T39 4-25" 2-22" 3012LF
4 - OT12 2512 Melded/NSD2005
1 - T24
2 - XF210

Sell speaker and use money to buy all the proper material to build a Tuba HT (which is designed for exactly what you want)
BFM builds:
XF212
T24 BP102 24"
2x SLA's 6-5" mids, 9- gt-302's
2x AT 14" MCM 55-2421
TrT 5" MCM 55-2421
AT 18" JBL GTO804
2x OT12 flat array
2x SLA Pro 2-Alpha 6's 2-Goldwoods

Agreed, the 3015LF is not suitable for home theater.

You don't need to use Dayton drivers, any brand with the correct specs will work.

No matter how difficult a build could be,if i can read the plans,i can build it.I repair agricultural equipmentequipment, just reading the repair manuals in strange language with only few known wordswords because there are images and because i can understand how thing works.
But if there is no list with recomended drivers,i cant find which do the jod, because i cant compare speakers specs.
So,one last question.
Is at the plans a list with recomended speakers,or should i ask here the knowledge and experience of yours?

Hi saved, I'm Seth.

Most, if not all, of the plans list a few known drivers that suit the design. Additionally listed are the acceptable range of speaker specs.

I highly recommend ordering the CD with all the plans instead of one or two singularly. They're good reading and they answer a lot of questions that come up when weighing all the options on which cab to build.

Welcome to the forum

Another option is plans for the Simplex 15 Pro Sub, which can use the 3015LF.

All plans include a detailed set of instructions and step-by-step diagrams of the construction process. Required materials, tools, parts and recommended drivers are listed, along with driver T/S specs for driver substitution.

Neither. You don't use low reaching PA subs for electric bass.
