Narrow Titan 39 question

#1 Post by Double0 » Sat Jun 16, 2018 7:03 pm

Does no panel 7 mean that the speaker is left exposed.

Only if you don't install the access panel.

Never!
In the slimmest of cabs, you add the access panel flanges and mount the access panel.

Bill, that made me laugh...

Ok guys another question am I doing it right I cut the hole for the speaker in panel 2 the and inserted the 3012lf and marked the holes.

By my understanding the 12 inch driver anchor is to go on the inside as a reinforcement? Also do I stick that in place with the PL as well?

Yes, as in what is written on page 8.
When you trace the outline of the anchor, put a couple of indicator marks on both the anchor and the baffle at the same spot. This will help in making sure that the anchor is installed in the exact location as when one was dry-fitting the parts.

Sorry to be a pain guys just read the plans again and was wondering if the speaker is supposed to be flush with the baffle panel? I don't have the partial assembly here its at a friends workshop.

Have you looked at the sketchup model? If there's any way to make it more clear how everything goes together I'm open to suggestions.

Reading it back i was wondering if I did mine wrong if you lay the baffle board down and then put the speaker through the hole I am wrong. I cut a hole so that the lip cannot get through, if you get me?

That's not right. The baffle should have a hole large enough for the driver to fit inside.
The anchor needs a hole cut to not allow the lip to slip through...

Looking at the sketchup, it's pretty clear the speaker is recessed into the baffle. The hole in the baffle would have to be large enough to put the whole speaker through.

Maybe turn your baffle into the anchor. Or, cut the hole bigger.

Or read the plans. Page 7: Cut in the baffle a hole(s) slightly larger than the driver frame, so the driver can barely slip through it.

Thanks Recessed is a great word for it!

Bill why is it recessed, just for informational purposes? Does it improve performance by having a greater distance between the access panel & speaker?

It improves performance and allows maximum depth of the access cover braces, for maximum access cover stiffness.
