Tuba 30

#1 Post by Nagihr » Wed Jun 28, 2017 8:36 pm

Would I be able to use 2 12" Eminence lf drivers in a 27" wide Tuba 30 bass horn?

No, minimum width for a 2x12 T30 is 29".

Thank you. How will a double 12" tuba 30 sound compared to a Martin WSX bass horn?

If you want to compare to the WSX, the T39 / T48 would be a closer match.

Thank you. And this is my final question. Can a single 15" driver be used in a tuba 30?

No. Only a 10" or a 12 ", unless you want to put two drivers into one cab (2x10 or 2x12).

Now I'm having doubts. Would a 2x10" Eminence BP102 loaded tuba 30 have more output than a 1x12" Eminence Delta 12 LFA loaded tuba 30? And how wide would a 2x10" Tuba 30 need to be?

2x bp102 will go louder, smoother and if you put them each in a separate box they will be much easier to transport as 2 single's perform the same as 2 drivers in a double wide box.

You can V-plate the 2 slim T30's so they perform almost like 3 slim T30's and go a little lower.

Welcome to the forum :)
You will do much better using the 3012lf driver than the Delta12LFA in terms of maximum output.
Don't get me wrong, I have used the BP102 for years now in my T39's. They are robust and go well.
If you are only going to build 1 or 2 cabs though, even though they are more expensive, the premium drivers in that situation are the way to go.

Please fill in your location in your profile so we might be able to advise getting drivers...
Built:
DR 250: x 2 (melded array) with March 2012 plans.
T39's: 4 x 20" BP102 , 2 x 28" 3012lf.
WH8: x 3 with melded array.
Bunter's Audio and Lighting "like"s would be most appreciated...

+1. If you're concerned about output the last thing you should be doing is considering the least expensive, least capable drivers.
