Re: SLA build

So I finally have the boxes built. It was such a pain to cut out all 30 holes with a jigsaw. I need a router and Jasper jig bad. Now I'm wiring them up. I knew it was gonna be a big undertaking and it's kicking my butt. Since I'm not using the recommended mid's https://www.parts-express.com/5-paper-...

Re: Ideas for raft sound system

I support your effort, but this seems like something bad could happen. That's a lotta equipment and money in grave danger of getting ruined. Short story: I went on a day canoe trip this past weekend with the girlfriend and now my ipod is in the bottom of the river. I had it on my cooler inside my mi...

Re: Confused how to hook-up this gear

I'm only playing pre-recorded music currently. My original intention was to build 2 T24's(with passive crossovers) and use my 15" 2-way tops. I sold those to fund my SLA project. The few times I've played music through just the T24 I noticed it still passing higher Hz then I care for. Bill said...

Re: Confused how to hook-up this gear

- Currently my "limiter" consists of dime'n the amp and mixer then slowly turning up the channel's volume while watching my multimeter get close to max voltage with a 40hz tone. Then putting duct tape on the fader to prevent it from going higher. Pretty lame, I know. :slap: - I want to run...

Confused how to hook-up this gear

So I just picked up a Behringer CX2310 and can't figure out how to set it up. My tops will be 2 SLA's and subs 2 T24's. Here's what I got so far: American DJ Q-2221 (phono out only) -> Alesis M-EQ 230 (1/4"out) -> Carvin DCM1000 Obviuosly the crossover goes after the EQ and before the amp. I'm ...

There's an outlet at the bottom of the pic (end of island) where I usually setup my soldering station. But only when nobody is home

Re: SLA build

So I tested all 12 mids and 18 tweets and only 1 tweet was bad. Got lucky I suppose. The tweet that separated in shipping works perfectly after carefully epoxying back together. Got lucky again and came out even. This weekend I'll cut out all the pieces and hopefully get them glued up. Not looking f...

Re: SLA build

PE shipped out a new one today. They were very helpful and hassle-free. There are little tab thingys on them, so I'll try epoxy when I get the new one. The SLA's will be in my basement most of their life, so heat wont be an issue. The glue does look thin and weak on these tweets. My main issue was h...

I sent them an email. I'll need to make another order soon, so maybe I'll get a credit. Should be able to continue on.

SLA build

Finally bit the bullet and ordered the parts build a pair of SLA's per plans (6 mid x 9 tweet). Already there's a problem. One of the tweet's diaphram's seperated from the magnet during shipping. http://i.imgur.com/8iQk0v6.jpg?2 Can I put a few drops of epoxy on it? The tweets are Goldwood GT-302 an...

Re: XF212

This doesn't always work, but I like to take a dowel rod and wrap the fabric around a few times then stretch it over and staple. This helps keep the fabric square to the grill so it's not mis-shapen or distorted.

Wow! Shots fired.

What about records? I'd still rather listen to Darkside on vinyl than MP3 or CD.

Re: Started the T39's with a cabinet maker

Unfortunate I could not generate an output at 30hz from my computer/sound card. So, I'm running 35hz set for 12 hours sitting right at 10v. Don't know why there is nothing out on this card at 30hz as it said it's good for 10hz. Asus STX card. What are you using to produce the tone? I've used Audaci...
