Re: Bryan's SLA Pro Build
Thanks, fellas. I'm treating it sort of like a home stereo. I got him a Bluetooth receiver that supplies 100 watts to each channel and has an unpowered sub out. I got two of these for the subs. https://www.parts-express.com/Dayton-Audio-SPA500DSP-500W-Subwoofer-Plate-Amplifier-with-DSP-300-8012 It i...

Re: Bryan's SLA Pro Build
Spent a few hours in the workshop today and made decent progress. I'm not attempting to win any beauty contests here but they are square and correct, I believe. The customer doesn't want to spend any extra on bondo, sanding, duratex, etc.. He wants flat black and doesn't care in the least for cosmet...

Re: Bryan's SLA Pro Build
Key point tonight...the SLAP plans say there are half- moon cutouts for the tweeter barrels but provide no dimensions. If using the Goldwoods, the diameter for that hole is 2 1/4". I'll be cutting that out with a hole saw and finishing it with the jig saw. It's been a minute, but I believe I d...

Re: Bryan's SLA Pro Build
Bryan, that workspace looks fantastic. Perfect for these kinds of projects. It's a rare moment in time that my space looks that tidy, clean, and organized. He hasn't lived there long enough to get it messy..... Haha! Very true. I'm working though the kinks of where I like things and how best to kee...

Bryan, that workspace looks fantastic. Perfect for these kinds of projects. It's a rare moment in time that my space looks that tidy, clean, and organized. Looking forward to seeing this unfold  Thanks, Seth. I really like my workshop to be clean and organized. I find if it's cluttered th...

Re: Bryan's SLA Pro Build
Well shoot, now you need to build a 2nd pair for your buddy’s place 😄 Yaaa some nights it doesn’t seem like much progress but every little bit counts. I spent a good 30 min testing some cuts on scraps for my OT8s to make sure I had it down before slicing and dicing the birch ply. Absolutely! I was ...

Re: Bryan's SLA Pro Build
Not much to report for last night. Spent an hour in the shop. Made a hand hole jig and cut the hand holes in the sides. Then I cut and attached the braces. No pics though. I didn't have much time so I spent it working. Tonight I'll be helping a buddy renovate his old bar into a jam pad so I won't ma...

Bryan's SLA Pro Build
Hey all, I'm building a pair of shorty SLAPs for a clients workshop. And before the copyright police arrive, yes I purchased an extra set of plans. Anyway, after having retired from the military, we're all settled in our home and new lives. I love my new workshop. It's small but it does what I need ...

Re: What Size Router Bit for 1/2" Plywood Cab
Absolutely! I built my first T39s with the cabinet screws, then took 'em out after the PL dried plugged the holes. After that, it's been all brad nails with the few exceptions where it's hard to line up an interior panel and shoot it from below - then I'll put a screw in each end of the panel to ge...

Re: What Size Router Bit for 1/2" Plywood Cab
18 ga brads work beautifully. I find that I can make great progress on a weekend when I use them. The only time I worry about clamps is if something is warped or to momentarily align a joint. But, to each their own.

Re: T45 stack
Rich has it right. The box is what determines your tone and tuning. It is important for the air to maintain pressure all throughout the horn path until it reaches the mouth. The horn filters harmonic distortion and certain order harmonics, giving you the cleanest sounding bass youve ever heard. I'm ...

Re: T45 stack
You're right, the first box is looking good. Nicely done! 1) Use PL construction adhesive. The guy at Rockler recommended tightbond 3 for outdoor speaker boxes instead of PL and against my better judgement I decided to listen to him instead of the instructions. Big mistake. :wall: Air-tightness is t...

Re: Dayton Audio RSS315HE-22 12" Reference Series High Excursion Subwoofer
I haven't heard of anyone using the Daytons in place of the pro drivers. Typically, Bill's recommendation is to avoid non-pro drivers as their build is not as robust. From the Dayton website..."Optimized for small enclosures and with dual 2-ohm voice coils, the RSS315HE-22 is flexible enough to...
