Re: amp sensitivity switch?
From a Macrotech manual: The Input Sensitivity Switch is located inside the back of the amplifier (Figure 5.1). It is set at the factory to 0.775 volt for rated output into 8 ohms. It can also be switched to a sensitivity of 1.4 volts, or a fixed voltage gain of 26 dB (4.8 volts for rated output). W...

Re: New Mixer Thoughts
In addition to the custom levels Mixing Station now has a "feedback detector" feature I have yet to even try -- I suspect this is the RTA output on a single page for any input on the desk but I won't know until I get to a gig early enough to play around with it.

Re: " ... I can't have DCA's and channel faders up at the same time... " I Use Mixing Station on the Android tablet for my X32 as it will let you put any combination of faders onto custom pages, and you can have as many custom pages as you like by saving them to Android Storage. You can ev...

Re: QSC TouchMix 16
For the money I'd rather have an X32 Rack than a Touch-Mix 16. 16 x 8 with an additional 6 aux in and out, USB 2 track recording as well as USB multitrack I/O, digital snake and ultranet ports, iPad and Android apps, rack mountable. Most importantly re-callable and remote controllable pre-amp gains....

Re: Vocal Mic
I have used the 835 on guitar cabs, and drums but I own so many microphones any more ( over thirty at last count ) that my half dozen 835s are usually on whatever vocals aren't wireless. The wireless mics I use most are Sennheiser as well; XSW 35, EW 135, which have the 835 capsule.

Re: Wireless router blues
smallnetbuilder.com has great reviews and comparison charts of WiFi gear if you are considering an alternative. I use an Asus black diamond for tablet mixing my x32 gigs and could not be happier. I learned of it on smallnetbuilder.

Re: Vocal Mic
Another vote for the e835, I buy three at a time on Ebay for $211.00 (US$)
For me, simply the best balance of sound quality, durability and low handling noise.

Re: Standard rate for soundman/PA?
You could always call another local company to get a quote for similar services to find out. Make up a date far in the future. The real question is what do you want? I would ask around five to six hundred for the two days myself, but that if I don't need any extra crew. You can always go down in rat...

Re: T39L attempt
I don't get the cost/benefit frankly. Yes they are lighter, but my T39s are already incredibly light for what I get out of them. I could not see going this route, especially after so many people have sat, stood or danced on my T39s. I hope it works out for your application though.

Re: This gem....
Only use I can think of is inside an animatronic dummy whose head turns and you want the sound to follow the direction of the head, or some super- stupid Hi-Fi system which attempts to "optimize" the sound based upon where you sit in the room, by literally aiming the speaker at your head. ...

Re: Okay you DJ Gurus
I usually ask that whatever I am amplifying with my PA system actually generate sound.
The onus for the DJ equipment is usually on the DJ.
If the guy is too cheap to buy a laptop and copy of Traktor, how much of a "hot-rod" can he be?
Tell the promoter a Spotify playlist is much cheaper

Re: Mackie DL1608 Owners
I've only used the Mackie a couple times. The real big issue around using an output section of a digital mixer as a crossover is in the minimum attack time on the limiter. I would research that carefully on the Mackie. As many have stated here, the horn loaded subs sound great until they stop operat...

Re: Amp to power T-39's and SLA Pro's
I don't relish the idea of carrying only one power amp out to gigs, or even in a permanent install. Perhaps it is b/c I used to repair audio equipment and I've seen so many dead amps over the years. Amps are fairly reliable, but they do die, and you are likely to find out your amp is dead when you t...

Re: Worth a read... speaker falls on 10 year old
I try to avoid it but I do use tripod stands but usually put them behind my T39's to avoid this and other annoyances, like bar patrons who decide to re-point my speakers in the middle of a show b/c their standing spot is louder than they would like. Without fail, the tallest person in the room will ...

Re: New Mixer Thoughts
I love Mixing Station and regularly run my full X32 with it. I also track from my X32 to USB / Laptop (Studio One, but I have a friend who uses ProTools) without any issues. I have not looked too closely at the smaller X versions or the Soundcraft UI16. I actually like Soundcraft gear in General, bu...
