Re: Are 24 x T60-LAB15s Enough? ;)
When you double the cab count while maintaining the same voltage you get 6dB higher sensitivity by dint of the doubled cone displacement. That also results in increased efficiency. But you only get that full 6dB where 6dB of increased sensitivity and the associated efficiency is available. At the u...

Re: Are 24 x T60-LAB15s Enough? ;)
Great point about a sealed option for the DR280s! And at least 3 on each side, sounds good! Do you think there would be any downsides to just strapping them down on top of the subs? I know you said the bottom one should be just above head level, but if we shade them properly, do you think it would ...

Thanks for the explanation Bill. I'm not sure I clearly understand yet. I'm gonna let that marinate for the night.

Re: Are 24 x T60-LAB15s Enough? ;)
T60 and T48 in those numbers have the same sensitivity, as both have reached the efficiency limit, while T60 still goes lower. That being the case neither benefit from any effort at additional boundary loading, unless there's a twenty foot high wall you can use. Can you expand on that a little bit?...

Re: Are 24 x T60-LAB15s Enough? ;)
First off, you can absolutely get the sound you're looking for without having to resort to high priced commercially produced cabs and you're in the right place to make that happen. The DR280's are a great choice and given the environment they'll be used in, I'd 100% choose the sealed/non ported opti...

Holey vintage gear Batman!
We gotta get you a Driverack!
As Grant would say... It's not optional. What are you using for a limiter?

Re: DR build questions
..how wide did you build your T48's? One pair at 37" (3015LF) by mistake, and the other 36" (KL3015CX-8) In my opinion, inconsequential mistake aside, that is the quintessential combination. It would take 9500 watts worth of amplifier and six double loaded 18" JBL's (12 drivers total...

Re: DR build questions
See, now that's what I'm talking about. A simple, elegant, and stylish sledge hammer. I can tell you took that pic before you started playing it... the structure behind is still standing. LOL I think anyone doing recorded content outdoors should consider a sub stack like that as the standard starter...

Re: Questions about hi-passing and dialling in a T48
In my research and experience over the years, a tuned response curve similar to the one shown below in orange provides a very pleasing listening experience with heavily compressed recorded content and also works really well with live sound too. https://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/download/file.php?id...

Re: Which Simplex 15 Cab?
That's maximum SPL at maximum power/excursion, not sensitivity at 2.83v. It's correct.
If you're primarily using it/them as subs in a 2 way system, choose the Pro Sub version. It's the right tool for the job.

Re: DR build questions
The dust cap seals drivers with vented backing plates or "vented pole piece". It appears the 2510's are vented. Still, I'd think a little of the rubberized CA glue would do just fine.

Re: What's to chat about?
I agree, profound. Upon a brief moment of introspection, I definitely do both. I can relate to "using your music to listen to my system". However, I would never consider myself an audiophile in the traditional sense. The traditional audiophile plight is a fools errand in this day and age.

Re: DR build questions
I wouldn't hesitate to use gasket tape, myself. I might not even fix the dust cap. Or I might try sucking the dent out of it, if I could get my lips to seal.
