Re: QQ
Ok I am a bit confused here. Back when I ran a standard amp head and cabinet I had my wireless go to the amp and cabinet. The sound man would place he DI inline between the receiver of my wireless and the input of the amp. The XLR went to the stage snake. I am not sure how my current set-up is any ...

Re: How to build Rack Panels and put together a rack
Hey Bruce. Yes, sorry - I meant DI as in direct boxes. I would eventually like to have another quality DI (Radial) permanently affixed to my rig. At the present moment I have ART DI boxes which are okay in rehearsals but not sure how they are viewed by sound men in terms of quality. I had a Radial ...

Re: Simplexx 212 build w/ Pics
@ Electric Wisdom, I read your post last night and wondered how loud it must be during your practice. You have a 2-12 which is not enough(?) and in another Build Thread a 1-10 was too much. Another update for the gentle reader. Today we had rehearsal after several weeks off. I had the speaker cabin...

Re: Simplexx 110 Build
Another update for the gentle reader. Today we had rehearsal after several weeks off. I had the speaker cabinets up on top of an old road case which placed them about 30" above the floor. Drummer commented that he could hear me "very well" and the lead guitarist asked me to turn down ...

Re: How to build Rack Panels and put together a rack
I am drafting out all the possible configurations of my rack stuff. The one thing I do know is that I want to have a minimal amount of plugging and unplugging. My roadie is a pretty intelligent but even he can make mistakes in the dark under the gun on a stage - it happens. I want to make things ea...

Re: How to build Rack Panels and put together a rack
Bruce thank you so much for documenting this process - really amazing work and very well thought out. Any updates or any other rack projects you can share here? I've done several of these for local bands over the years. They all look pretty much the same with different rack gear. I am drafting out ...

Re: How to build Rack Panels and put together a rack
Well, it's buttoned up and ready to go to the venue. Router came in and it's all tested and ready to go. I tried to make this idiot-proof. I used an old slotted rack panel and added hooks to it for cable storage. I zip-tied the iPad cable, router cable, and external mixer cables in place for strain...

Re: Simplexx 110 Build
I did that once for a guitar rig. Had a couple of drawers to hold everything and the cab sat on top. The problem I found is the the box acted like a passive radiator and make a mess of some low notes. Make sure and leave some spaces around the sides so that it can't vibrate. I had wondered about th...

Re: Simplexx 110 Build
After that I am strongly considering building my own custom rack system to house my rack stuff, cords, pedal board, and associated gear sundries that I can set the speakers on and get them up off the floor. I did that once for a guitar rig. Had a couple of drawers to hold everything and the cab sat...

Re: Simplexx 110 Build
Paint on the baffles is dry and I painted the ports black as well. I reinstalled the speaker jack plates, the speakers, and hooked everything up to play. I detected no air leaks around the flanges of the speaker jack plates nor the Speakon connectors. Rack positioned up top is not ideal. IMG_7994.jp...

Re: Simplexx 110 Build
Glued the Speakon jacks to the jack plates with hot glue and also screwed them into place. Put some thin foam insulation along the flanges of the jack plates to help get them completely sealed. I applied two coats of black paint to the baffles while the cabinets were in the basement and have the cab...

Re: Simplexx 110 Build
Discovered some air leaking out of the jack plates where the Speakon connectors are screwed to the jack plates. Going to see about sealing those up. The speaker jack plates are recessed plastic plates so I am wondering if hot glue it the best approach or if I can use the all amazing PL. Any thought...

Re: Simplexx 110 Build
Yesterday was full rehearsal with the band for the first hour and we auditioned singer for the second hour. I was able to hold my own against two guitarists and the drummer with ease. The lead guitarist, with whom I have played in bands since the late eighties, said my bass sounded the best it has e...
