Re: Best rp600m replacement?

It's not so much about louder as it is sound quality. SLA Pro isn't hi-fi, it's not supposed to be. It's a lot better than the average woofer/horn plastic PA cab, but it's not what I'd want for home theater.

DuraTex is no johnny-come-lately. I started using it after seeing it was used by Carvin on their pro-sound cabinets, which must have been 20 odd years ago. AFAIK I was the first to recommend it for the DIY community, it's since become a go-to source.

Re: Australian Options - Suppliers / Drivers etc

Depending on the price you might want to get them. The availability of recone kits is probably no worse than for any other driver.

Re: Australian Options - Suppliers / Drivers etc

There may be kits available but they're sold in quantities of ten. The mounting is normal.

To cure Duratex leave the cabs in the summer sun for a day or two. Plastic corners on the cabs will keep them from sticking to each other.

Re: Otop12 3012HO for vocals?

There's no reason not to, even Levi Stubbs voice doesn't go below 100Hz. But you need to keep low frequencies that they can't reproduce out of them.

Re: Crossover question

The low frequency limit is determined by the Fs. At 1kHz Fs the F151 is OK at 1.2kHz. I could have gone lower with the NSD but didn't for two reasons. One was to allow more driver choices, the other being none of the speakers needed lower than 1.2kHz.

Re: Crossover question

I haven't had any reports of failure. Also note that the F151M has higher sensitivity than the ASD 1001, so it doesn't need as much power, another reason why it can get away with a 3rd order high pass.

Re: Crossover question

I went 4th order with the 2kHz because the driver quality wasn't as high.

Re: Jack 110 questions

Tweeters don't hiss, electronics do. If tweeters hissed it would be present even with the amp turned off. You could reduce the tweeter level by wiring them all in series, but that will cut the signal level too.

Re: Tuba 36

They'll work, but not ideally, as they're spec'd for home theater, not pro-sound. Better options are the GRS 15PT-8, PRV 15W1000v2, Eminence Delta 15LF-4, Lavoce WXF15.400, PRV 15W1600, Dayton 15LF500-8, PRV 15SW2000-4, Eminence 3015LF.

Put the TLAH in the corners and toe them in. It will enhance their low end.

No need to disconnect them, but they're not doing anything so there's no point in them being there.

You can't use off the shelf crossovers with piezos.
