Re: T39: 4 x 20", 2 x 28" completed
I've always wondered if there is a router template bit that cuts, say 1/16" more with a bearing guide. Then you could use the existing hole, make it 1/16" bigger, then flush cut the other 1/16" out with a normal flush cut bit. Rinse, repeat to go larger 1/8" on the diameter at a...

Re: Gluing cones
Inhaling through my teeth... I can only think of non traditional "creative" solutions for that situation. Are you leaning toward creative solutions or are you more likely to just replace the driver? Got a GRS 8SW-4HE in my Parts Express cart right now. Harmon Kardon said they don't have a...

Re: Gluing cones
Is the rest of the surround stuffed? If not, nothing lost at all by trying to put a nickel sized dab of epoxy at the separation spot to see if that fixes it... I thought about that but wouldn't the tear start to spread to other areas? I doubt the speaker glue would work in this case. Here ya go Set...

Re: Gluing cones
So guess what just happened? No, it's not the BP102 I just glued back together. That's doing great. It's now a JBL GTO 804 that tore where the cone meets the surround. Problem is that the cone is plastic and the surround is rubber and the tear is right on the edge of the two. I don't see a good way ...

Re: Gluing cones
It lives!
I did a quick test with a PA mixer and multimeter and it's back in business. The BP102 is in a Simplex 110 that was for sub duty in a car. Now I think I'm gonna add a tweet and crossovers and make it a full range grab-and-go box.

Re: Gluing cones
Ok people, the glue came in today and now I have the surround reattached to the cone. I watched some vids from Springfield Speaker and it was pretty straightforward. I got a little wild in some spots, but the most important thing is that it's not rubbing the voice coil. There was not much surface ar...

Gluing cones
Any tips or tricks to gluing a separated cone back to the surround? And what kind of glue? It's a BP102 that I haven't used in at least a year (approximately 15yr old) but has been in stored in a climate controlled basement. Never done this before, so I wanna be prepared and do it right.

Re: pre-amp advice
Try making a sine wave on Audacity (I can't believe I just now thought of that ) and get rid of those crappy compressed youtube vids. I've made/saved all kinds of tones for testing purposes.

Re: pre-amp advice
I'm leaning towards your pc settings as the issue. Are you connected to the green "line out"? Try connecting your phone or ipod to the amp and see what happens.

Re: Amps, Mixer, DSP, and am I making the right decisions for my needs?
3a- You could run 2 tops and 2 subs off of one amp. The tops would be daisy-chained to channel A and subs to channel B. This is of course if the amp can handle it. The music would be in mono but that doesn't matter (subs are run in mono anyway). So a simple sequence is: laptop > mixer > DSP > amp > ...

Re: Wood Prices Update 2023
Stopped by Rockler yesterday and they only had 2'x4' sheets of "American Birch" ply in stock for $39.99 a sheet. The 1/2" was 5-ply but the layers were inconsistent. Not a thin veneer like the Auraco ply, but certainly not equal thicknesses. The end-grain was not as clean as B.B. eith...

Wood Prices Update 2023
Today I stopped by a local wood supplier (for something else) and asked about their stock of 1/2" B.B. they have. They had about 3 dozen sheets of 5'x5' for $94 a sheet. Last time I checked was a few years ago right as the prices started going up and I think the best in the area was aro...

Re: Finally! Omni 12 Tall Boy build
Wow that turned out pretty darn good. Only criticism I have is the bracket for the light and switch by the woofer. I know it's the easiest solution and you probably wont see it, but the exposed switch and wires seems.......incomplete. I can't think of an easier way with a small enclosure. Maybe 3d p...
