Re: Hello from Coventry, UK

I dunno Tom. Something has to secure ''whatever' against a wall - a few holes here and there i would say isn't against the ethos of listed status, especially if in mortar joints, and not stone blocks themselves. In terms of sound, it's probably the balance of the aesthetically versus audiblly accept...

Re: Hello from Coventry, UK

Agree with the DSP / EQ comment, even for temporary setup. Listed status seeks to control / prevent major structural alterations including changing appearance. I don't see fixing speakers or sound treatment as being in that category, if brackets etc. can be fixed into (sufficiently wide) cement join...

Re: Hello from Coventry, UK

It's the capture and demonstration of what that next level is. People are very good at that on here. It's what the payback is worth in the money-effort-time sense - the manager has to see £ signs before his eyes. P.S. Don't you need SLA's looking at photos of the place...? i.e. I missed the Jack15 r...

Re: Hello from Coventry, UK

I'm interested in who the 'we' might be and how that might go, with the kindest of thoughts and for all the right reasons. :-) The quantity of establishments - bars, restaurants, cafés - with crap sound, and a management who care less to do anything, runs fairly high; probably about 95%. Really, a r...

We said that 12 years ago, ...Mrs J always wants more

So I duly crank the bass +1.

Re: Hello from Coventry, UK

Hi there Glenn, Welcome. I started out building J12L's, for bass guitar and general PA. I didn't particularly run them with the bass cranked, but felt like I wanted more bass, and when that happens subs are the way. I heard that the experienced DJ's tend to run bass about (of the order of) 10dB high...

Hi Leland,

Nice to see you. Apols, didn't notice - I've not been around myself - busyness of life again. ...am feeling a speaker build coming on though - maybe some SLA pro's.

Re: BFM Hit List...

Have had 'Joey Landreth - Hindsight' album on repeat in the car. Not a long album, but 6 or so very good tracks on there.

Re: BFM Hit List...

We find a bit of Daft Punk goes well on the T30's - nice bass - I feel it coming (feat. the Wknd) and Get Lucky (feat. Pharrell Williams) are both good. Just had a recommendation in last couple of days for Nils Landgren - a trombone and vocalist. 4WD album - all covers but very well recorded; sweet ...

Live band on Jacks and T30's

Here's a few videos from Bolton's Big Day out yesterday. The cabs are Jack12L's and a pair of 19" T30's under the stage, V-plated. There's also a pair of W8's either side of the front of stage, mirroring the FOH mix back onto the stage. The band said it was the best on stage sound they'd ever h...

Re: Brand dormancy

I've been listening to a video series called Money Revealed by Jeff Hays films, featuring many big name entrepreneurs. I had to wait for the final episode 9 to get some personal inspiration that feels like the right approach me and mine should take. And it was an interview with Jason Fladlien, who h...

Re: Brand dormancy

You can't tell anyone anything, and that applies as much to sound reproduction as anything else. Only if people are in a phase of emergence and open to suggestion can you help them. I certainly applaud the BF spirit of not exploiting a market for brand growth, but sticking to technical excellence as...

Re: Contemplating new lights

I'm currently looking into pars with hex LED capability (RGBAW-UV) I am a huge fan of the Monoprice Hex PARs, been using them for years. https://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=310&cp_id=31001&cs_id=3100101&p_id=612745&seq=1&format=2 Compact, minimal fan noise, and bright. Looks ...

Re: Contemplating new lights

Thanks for the shouts people. I'm still enjoying researching this area, and I like the idea of DMX and an isolated controller. The software seems to be the way - it appears that the hardware controllers end up having limitations. The one thing I haven't worked out conceptually is if there's a limit ...
