Re: How hot does your plate amp run?

Just FYI the auto shutoff on mine works fine. Guessing it takes about 10-15 minutes.

I wonder if there's some type of constant signal going through the inputs. After it's on , you might try disconnecting the inputs and see if it will auto shutoff after a while.

Re: How hot does your plate amp run?

Mine runs relatively cool. It's only the 200 watt model though.

Is it located in an enclosed space or can it get airflow? What kind of load is it running?

Re: Auto Tuba videos

The deck assigns the "LPF" to the subs outs and the "HPF" to the front and rear speakers. There is also an additional sweepable LPF on the sub amplifier which I currently have set at 85 hz.

Thanks. I just picked up one of these.... http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-imm-6-calibrated-measurement-microphone-for-iphone-ipad-tablet-and-android--390-810 So hopefully the iphone will record videos from it instead of the internal microphone. Then the EQ curve of the sub and dynamics wil...

Re: Auto Tuba videos

Here's another one...this time my 20" wide AT, gto1004d loaded, series wired. IJp5bNqmN0U The lower bass doesn't come out too well on camera. At 3:35 you can tell how much the bass is pumping though. Quite impressive considering it's running at 12-16 ohms, a cake walk load for the amplifier.

Very well. If you have the means to design and build your cabs around the drivers you have, that's great. Good luck with your venture...

Re: Hello from the netherlands! (again)

Hello and welcome (again) Sound like you know what you want to do. Keep us updated with a build log and pictures. As for this: For the low-end i'll be building 2 tapped horn with cheap second hand car subwoofers. It sounds like it could be a bit underwhelming. Why not just build a BFM folded horn to...

12" panels, 13" finished is the minimum in the plans.

Re: Another silly idea

There's nothing to be debated...it would work and work well in concept.

Its not my place here to design horns though so all I can do is brainstorm with you.

As Bill has already said there's not much to be gained anyway.

Umm, actually it would. If you really need THT extension it could be built larger.]

I personally wouldn't do it as it takes up too much floor space.

Re: Another silly idea

the hardest part of horn design is actually folding it into a box ;p your suggestion would make folding more difficult. Here's what I would do *brainstorming*...two boxes in one. In order to get a full 7-10 foot long horn the box would have to be around 36" X 36" though. It would probably...

Re: Experiment with a Crown XLS1500

Where are you measuring the voltage on each test? I can see a scenario where one amplifier input is getting very low signal and one input is getting high signal. On the channel where the input signal is low, the amplifier won't put out nearly the 50 volts, however if your voltage meter is hooked to ...

Re: Peavey IPR2 with 2 ohm load

FWIW I have T39's running on an IPR1600 with a 2 ohm nominal driver (+ horn load) and it runs fine no problem even into the DDT. Once tried the two subs in parallel for a 1 ohm load just to see if it would work, that's when it cut out momentarily. It would cut out for a few seconds then come back ri...

Reset your limiters with the amps unloaded.
If going by the DDT, you might as well delete the limiter from the picture altogether.

Re: First DJ Gig: 2-T39 and 2-OT12

Where the measurement is made is probably the big difference. Middle of the dance floor vs. 1m from the speakers.

Sounds pretty decent to me from what the video can deliver.
