Thanks for the explanation.....Bill Fitzmaurice wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2024 1:20 pm The low frequency limit is determined by the Fs. At 1kHz Fs the F151 is OK at 1.2kHz. I could have gone lower with the NSD but didn't for two reasons. One was to allow more driver choices, the other being none of the speakers needed lower than 1.2kHz.

Re: Crossover question
I haven't had any reports of failure. Also note that the F151M has higher sensitivity than the ASD 1001, so it doesn't need as much power, another reason why it can get away with a 3rd order high pass. My only concern was the published crossover suggestion by Eminence. I know they are supposing a 1...

Re: Crossover question
With the F151 looking a little less robust than the NSD2005, would it be worth going 4th order when using it? Or, is it tough enough to stick with the old crossover?

Crossover question
Bill, in checking the plans of the DR280 to get some other info, I noticed that the 2k crossover option for the CD is a 4th order filter. But, the 1.2k option is a 3rd order filter at a slope of 18db/octave. Wouldn't a 4th order filter give better protection, especially with the NSD2005 being replac...

Re: BMS H4552ND Alternative
If your plans are old, you might consider contacting Bill for an update. New plans suggest Eminence F151M-8 for the lower 1.4kHz crossover point. My plans are old, so I gotta' ask........ is the 1.4k you mentioned a typo or did the crossover change with the F151M? It's always been 1.2k. Good catch,...

Re: DR build questions
I would use a standard large roller for the primer, yea? I use the 4 inch rollers that Leland sells for duratex. Much less waste and lets you get into the nooks and crannies. Here's the link to 'em. https://www.speakerhardware.com/4-duratex-roller-refill.php I'm sure you can find this same type whe...

Re: Legalize An Audience Gun
About the only gigs we attend anymore are when we attend C&W dances in our Central Texas retirement community. Lots of love for the bands. They're paid well, no gate worries. Crowd is into it. Smiles all around. No one under 65 generally. But, I do agree, people are just impossible. Being an ol...

Re: DR build questions
Now to finish painting.. going to spray Duratex on the T48s, l think rolling them would take forever. Honestly, I personally believe rolling 'em is faster. By the time you get setup to spray, do the primer coat, clean the sprayer, start the duratex, clean the sprayer so it doesn't clog between coat...

Re: Legalize An Audience Gun
Yeah, sometimes I become a dick and state my honest feelings. The rant did me good. Now I wont try to hit deer in the road on the way home with my truck. Seriously, bar gigs havent been fun in decades. But then I'm at a huge disadvantage, I'm there totally sober. Yeah, stay away from the deer.....o...

Re: Jack 110 questions
Call me lazy, but when I need to tilt my Jack10, I use a length of 2 x 4 that I spray painted black. I had to stick some no-skid pad thingy on it to keep it from sliding backwards. Fold out handle sounds cool, if it locks in position. Ha! We do one show where one of the singers stands way back from...

Re: Tinnitus Help, Maybe . . .
dont F around with your hearring You are absolutely correct. I have some earplugs that reduce the decibels but are pretty even across the spectrum. I really should use 'em more, but I'm not running loud rock shows like I used to. Still would be a good idea. Stay away from the foam plugs.....they so...

Re: Legalize An Audience Gun
I do hate the audience and will not get help for it. I avoid them and that's why jazz and fusion gigs that pay nothing are fun. I hear ya' brother. Audiences can be a major pain. I ran sound for a couple of years for a "listen or leave" show that was recorded and then broadcast on the rad...

Re: Tinnitus Help, Maybe . . .
I've had tinnitus for over 30 years. I've seen a ton of claims that say they'll help. You can always try it. I've just learned to live with it. I go to sleep with the TV on a timer to mask it.
