Re: People with foggers, got a quickish question!
Do hazers get hot at all? I'm interested in using one for a light show in a barn, but I want to be super careful about anything that heats up. Thanks!

Re: PC based Open Source Mixers and Procesors
I've had good luck with the PreSonus StudioLive. They recently introduced new rackmount interfaces which have onboard DSP processing that can be controlled by computer/ipad/etc. Not sure about these but you should research them as options: Audiobox 22 VSL (2 mic inputs) $200 Audiobox 44 vsl (4 mic i...

Re: TLAH PRO Build
also, this might sound crazy but I didn't see the answer in the plans... I'm just curious why SLA and TLAH mount the 1016s in "vertical" mode instead of a stack of horizontal piezo horns like a non-melded array in a DR/otop/wh? GF is picking up a box of Aurasound NS525-255-8A in Madison ne...

Re: TLAH PRO Build
Sweet! How did you decide on the drivers you used?
I was thinking of using these Aurasound NS525-255-8A that are $2 each.

Re: TLAH Experimental
So I didn't expect a TLAH pro with closeout drivers to match a DR280 for full band gigs, or to even match the TLAH pro with Alpha 6a. But for a minimal investment (~$80 for the pair) I'm thinking about trying to build one, with filters. It would be good for - an interesting shootout with SLA Pro - m...

Re: TLAH PRO Build
In that wallywally build thread, the Aurasound NS525-255-8A was used ($3.60 ea) which is tempting... 1/10 the price of Alpha 6a. For a TLAH with 12 drivers each, I'm considering their "case" deal for 30 at $2 each, to have some spares.

Why not just put a tophat in the bottom and lower the stand?

Re: TLAH build for sanctuary
I'm planning to build tlah pros for my church, and one thing I was hoping to do was remove the piezos from the piezo horns, and paint the horns the same color as the cabs (tan). Hopefully this will make it even less visible thru the grill cloth. Just throwing it out there.

Re: TLAH PRO Build
I can't wait to hear how you like the drivers. <$10 compared to a $45 Alpha 6a sounds appealing, so long as it's "close enough."

Re: Design challenge - backpack bass amp
I like the wireless idea. So this is for parades? You'd have to enlist someone to walk along the side of the band with some sort of rolling amp. I'm thinking you could build some sort of frame around some Titans to boundary load them to the ground like this: http://billfitzmaurice.com/images/Placeme...

DIY stage
Anyone ever built a DIY semi-portable stage? I have a barn wedding coming up and I'd like to get the band up on stage if possible. My plan was 4x8 plywood (or maybe cut down to 4x4 sections) with a 2x4 frame underneath. Not sure how I'd support them... cinder blocks at first, maybe something else la...

Re: cheap lighting
I get the feeling I'd be frustrated by work lights.
Anyone have suggestions for lighting a bar band in small spaces?
- Mounting cans or color strips above/below FOH speakers on the stand?
- Colorstrips or cans at the front of the stage?
- etc?
Thanks

cheap lighting
Has anyone used LED worklights or shop lights for a cheap stage wash? I'd be looking for recommendations for brand (I know I've seen a club that uses these white Menards ones for their outdoor stage, $39 each, and Harbor Freight has some for $25 each). Also any filters that help with the light? Or m...
