Upgrading drivers in my 20" T39's.
Bill, Can you tell me expected/calculated output increase from changing from BP102's to KL3010LF's in T39's please. From what I've been reading, and since there are no BP102 T39 charts, the S2010 at 27V is +20dB over baseline, the 3012LF is +26dB with 56V. You don't advise 56V in the T39 plans any l...

Re: Gluing cones
It's not just a matter of adding glue and putting it back together. To do it right, you need to carefully remove the dust cap to allow you to shim the voice coil (I use a no 11 scalpel blade for this). Insert shims. Reglue the surround, let it set. Remove the shims, reglue the dust cap. This keeps e...

Re: Australian Options - Suppliers / Drivers etc
2x 28" Lab12 T30s aren't going to satisfy a pair of Delta Pro 12 DR 280s used for EDM are they? I'm thinking 4x would be adequate? What about a pair of Lab15 T60s? I have one in the TubaHT which l could substitute, then l'm just looking for 1 more Lab15. Or 2x 20" Lab12 T60s? Or.. 4x S18 ...

Re: Australian Options - Suppliers / Drivers etc
Good evening, would this 12" driver be considered Pro audio? Qts is off, looking for a Lab12 substitute available here, for T30. I feel it may not be up to the task..? Mate, It's very like the specs of the Lab12C, which is outside spec compared to a Lab12 Having said that, enough forum members...

Re: ringing out
The mains are 5.3 ohms. What Bruce said :) I'm going to take a punt and say you got your multimeter out and measured impedance across the cab terminals? Just so you know, that's not measuring impedance, it's measuring DC resistance. If your DC resistance is 5.3, then your nominal cab impedance is a...

Re: pre-amp advice
A few things: Check in the audio mixer on your PC that output of the player is maxed out if the master volume is. Line out (green) varies in values. If it follows convention it should be 1V with an impedance between 100 and 600ohms. But it may be different! Details should be able to be determined if...

Relevant??
What I wrote isn't about relevance, it's about age.
By all means then, go ahead and exclude those of us, because we're older, don't do EDM

Blatant ageism.
Just sayin
Everyone has a song that means more to them than any other.
Not always EDM though...

Re: T48 stack
Thank you for all the responses. One more question while on the subject, what are the pros and cons of more or less braces? My thoughts are, more braces gives you slightly more riged and sturdy cabs in exchange for a more weight. Possible slightly reduced performance from lost space, but possibly s...

Re: Fight!
I don't think you'll get many responses to this, so I'll throw in some observations. I reckon the only way you would get the fight is for 2 different people to have built the 2 cabs between them, and go from there. Most would decide one or the other, not build both. I think, with the 2512 for the Om...

Grant, I've been thinking about this and it won't leave my mind... I highly value the vulnerability and humility you expressed in your last post. I admire you for that. And, at whatever level it may be, I genuinely value you as a friend. Thanks Seth. Just to clarify, my reference to power supply is...

Re: Titan 48 for 12v build// No Labs in the UK
Since the two scenarios both result in 450 watts of power, the 12V power the amplifier requires in either case would be 450 watts plus an (in)efficiency percentage. That number divided by 12 volts gives you the amperage the amplifier will potentially draw from the battery/alternator. (roughly) Are ...

Re: Titan 48 for 12v build// No Labs in the UK
^ Errr how can you just ignore physics, and the associated equation? V=IR It doesn't matter how the load occurs, but the amperes in an overall 8 ohm cab load requiring 60V (7.5A) are half that of a 2 ohm load requiring 30V (15A). That's amperes on the output side of the amp, and since energy can't b...
