Re: Hello from South Carolina

Welcome. There's more than amazing speaker plans here, also a lot of sound knowledge. You can spend long hours reading stuff that will actually help you do a better job. Here's a way to get instant improvement: Buy speaker stands for the tops so you can get the subs out. Now stack your subs so that ...

Re: Retro fitting a 3012lf in a bp102-T39

My first build was a T39, and I was helped by a very experienced DIYer. He had tools and experience making things work. This version had the access cover on top, and as we were building it to fit the bp102, the much higher capacity 3012lf came out. I wanted my single sub to be as powerful as possibl...

Re: Hello from california!

Here's an option that I chose: Use a cabinet designed for bass, and supplement it with a titan39. The plans include how to make a passive crossover that includes a high-pass out for a top. You can see the input/output jacks on the top front of the titan. I run the output of the amp into the crossove...

Re: Wagon or minivan

My Outback is 40 inches wide between the wheel wells, but unfortunately the hatch is too small to fit the sub in sideways. And for the record, my last Dodge Caravan was rotting away when I sold it with 280k miles, but the engine was still going strong.

Re: Wagon or minivan

I do both: 2000 Subaru Outback and a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan. The van is amazingly useful -- I can take my whole rig plus three friends. In the Subaru, I can just manage my whole system (30" T39, 2x DR200, 3 tubs, stands, rack, and mirrorball.) The T39 sits on the folded down back seat, up to ...

Re: Bass guitar rig

That would be ok. A great PA, but not a great bass rig. A huge part of any instrument is tone, and with electric bass, the amp and speaker are components of the tone. At the least, you will need a preamp or simulator to feed into your PA bass rig.

Re: Help Save a Mackie SR 1530 empty Cab.

Did Mackie do something special with the cab to make it worth redeeming? I don't know Mackie's background, if they are into research and development or not. I vote for saving yourself time and effort shining up a common box. Spend the time finding quality wood, custom crafting it into one of Bill's ...

Re: The journey begins.. 16 T60's and 12 DR280's!!

AND THE GOOD NEWS I'VE GROWN TO LOVE PL!! I whole-heartedly agree. I think the only complaints are from those who try to use it like caulk and run their fingers through it. It filled all my crummy cuts, and when I was done, I cut it square. I stick a screw in the nozzle and it's good for the next t...

Re: Tuba 60 Downunder

Yeah I have seen that a lot too. Honestly, music these days has lower content than most on this forum would like to admit. If you're doing high school dances, T39 won't play everything. At this point you must ask yourself "is it worth the weight of T48/T60 to play the lowest content"? And...

I've heard that about MDF before, have you found any evidence to back it up? I only use well-braced cabinets and never had any issues with resonance.

Re: Wireless Mics

Working sound at church, one guy did some research on why our expensive wireless units were dropping out, and he said we need to move them away from our power strips. Try moving your receiver farther from your rig. What have you got to lose?

Re: Power amp cutting out. Why?

I discovered that on my Crown XTi1000, when I clip my sub output, the top output distorts through my top speakers. The top channel is not clipping. Weird. I have no idea if the sub is distorting, the Titan doesn't sound any different and I don't expect any of the noises to be able to come through th...

Re: 2 Titan 39s shaking the house

I set up a T-39 in the house, and noticed that even though it seemed very loud, the lights on my amp weren't even indicating -20db. So I pushed it up until it flickered the -10 db. Just then my wife came home and told me to turn it down -- the siding on my house was rattling and she was worried it m...
