Re: Kick Drum EQ questions

Its always important to get the most consistent sound out of the mic position as it makes EQ'ing a lot easier. I'm not sure making a hole will help as that is more about sound preference, 2" from the rim is always good as the skin travel is minimised, almost like using a preprepared compressor....

Re: Kick Drum EQ questions

Could you start by saying which mic/mics you were using and their positions.

Re: Holes in cab bracing

I thought they all counted for free air flow but the first ones were the only that were necessary.

Re: Holes in cab bracing

The holes are to increase the free flow movement of air and to save a little weight. You can probably save up to 70% the weight of the panel.

Re: Safer and quicker way to cut piezos

To do it with a circular saw would be difficult since the depth of cut for the piezos is almost two inches. You could cut the bottom then sand the top with a circular saw. It took me just over 10 minutes to cut 10 piezos with securing the guide. You could use it with a circular saw by clamping it up...

Nothing, I just don't want to get my fingers anywhere near a spinning blade and I don't want to cut anything that isn't secure. Just personal preference. Using the sled requires you to remove the guard which is something else I'm not going to do.

Re: Safer and quicker way to cut piezos

I didn't like the idea of the piezos being loose, I wanted to secure them to something.

That's another setup I would love to hear, but we're all picture junkies, where are the juicy pics of the cabs? I also second the subs question.

Safer and quicker way to cut piezos

This is my prototype for a piezo cutting jig. Take a piezo and measure your first pass width. http://image1.frappr.com/pix1/i/20080709/1/3/3/13344a31a5b7c50ad53736def5b36aed0_large.jpg Cut a strip of ply to that width. http://image1.frappr.com/pix1/i/20080709/b/b/e/bbeb59096503f7684c64fb85e20d4ad20_...

Re: Accident - beware of rushing with a table saw...

The micro jig looks really good, but I simply don't have the balls to run my saw without the guard. It's a really good reminder though, if the guard is in the way of the cut, the cut is too dangerous.

Re: Accident - beware of rushing with a table saw...

I'm absolutely terrified of my table saw and it's one of the few things I take my time over. Even if I work half the speed compared to using a circular saw, I can still do it in half the time. I hope this injury hasn't ruined any instrument playing, but if ever you needed a reason for being late, th...

Don't the OT12's look tiny next to the T48's.

I really would like to hear a rig of that size.
