Re: Wiring rig question

Exciters in live situations are a great way to create feedback where it did not previously exist. They rarely add anything desirable to the sound (the sole exception that I've heard was a Sonic Maximizer used with Bose 802s, it actually made them listenable). The proper setup would be Mixer>EQ>Cros...

When you scale a horn down you get less low end. IMO the DR200 is a small as you should go with the DR design.

Re: Jack 110 First Impressions

Since it was OK the second time around chances are the driver was originally a bit off-center.

Re: Menard's 1/2" ACX Half-Sheets suck

I just noticed that you said they were half-sheets. Those are usually created from full sheets that were damaged or defective, with the worst of it cut off and tossed.

Re: Menard's 1/2" ACX Half-Sheets suck

From what I've seen in the Menards ads, the ACX stuff is made by Arauco. I'm glad this was posted because I was thinking of going to Menards to buy the ACX stuff too as I thought it was the same. But now I'll stick to going to Lowes. I don't know what ACX is, but my local Menards has Arauco, 15/32&...

Re: Menard's 1/2" ACX Half-Sheets suck

Curious why you are using that plywood instead of Arauco? Arauco's a bit more expensive, but not that much. From what I've seen in the Menards ads, the ACX stuff is made by Arauco. I'm glad this was posted because I was thinking of going to Menards to buy the ACX stuff too as I thought it was the s...

Re: Menard's 1/2" ACX Half-Sheets suck

For those building cabs in WI. Be extra cautious when picking through their ACX. This stuff should be culled. My recent project has ground to a halt as I've discovered several delaminations in some of my cosmetic panels. :cussing: The ACX from the local lumber yard is amazing compared to this junk....

Re: Panel Jig, cut line centered or not?

span wrote:I don't see this clearly in the plan, but do you make the panel jib with the cut line centered on the board or off to one side? What's the advantage if not centered?
With a smaller jig off-center allows greater support of a large piece being cut when placed to one side or the other.

Re: Long Overdue - Jacks for Bass Guitar

The standard speaker is a Celestion Neo 400W which retails for £95 so I am at a loss to understand what the other £400 has been spent on. ...and you can bet your arse that Warwick paid about a third of that retail price for the driver, so it's more like "what did they spend the other £460 on?&...

Re: GK MB 150 Extension Cabinet: Buy or Build?

The only thing that makes sense IMO is a sub, probably T39. A second full range cab that's not identical to the first isn't going to match well. A sub, OTOH, will give you an octave plus of lows that the G-K is incapable of delivering. Refer to Gauss's review of his combo/T39.

Re: Lowering crossover point with shallow slope?

Right, but if the goal is phase neutral summing of the two sources, as it is for me, only matching slopes and frequency points will achieve that. The goal is the best sound. Ideally one would have separate EQ on the tops and bottoms, allowing them to have flat response and matched sensitivity at th...
