sub placement sweetspot
setting up in a room that I've always had problems in. I've read a theory, that to find the ideal location for subs, is to place a sub where you want the bass to be (in the audience). Then play a tone and walk the room. Where you find the bass to me the best/most intense, put the subs there. I tried...

Re: Rock Concert Bass Cabs
in my opinion, a t60 won't compare to a Nexo. The CD18 is a cardiod sub, so the directional advantages it has is an additional benefit for large venues. You won't have that with T60s. Controlling them in an large venue will be difficult. a volume output comparison, maybe, but that's not the reason o...

Re: Rock Concert Bass Cabs
Those are Nexo CD18s. Top of the line.

Most companies that can afford Nexo, use enough of them to never have to need to get close to max excursion. If you'd spent that kind of cash, you'd also never try to max out excursion. that would be really stupid.

Re: Best DI boxes
A few years ago we compared a handful of inexpensive passive DIs. The whirlwind imp2 was the cleanest sounding with the best output. The others were either quieter, lost hi freq response, or distorted the low freq. I think we compared it to a HK redbox, rolls, proco, and art passive DIs. All using p...

Re: 4 - T48's newly built vs 2-Dual 12" T-36's
In a very brief summary. .... - I Don't DJ any longer, but I play in a band now. - The T48 is great for the 'hit you in the chest thump'. - the T36 lack "punch", above 60hz, but does provide good bass down low for recorded music. - For live music, T48 is better. - W10s rock. - everyone sho...

Re: Analog limiters?
If you have some money to spend, look at the Aphex Dominator II. Look on ebay for cheaper prices. I'm using a Shure FP-33 preamp. It's built-in limiter is very good sounding. The down side is that the threshold control is a trim pot on the inside. PITA to adjust, but once it's set, it's not going to...

Re: POLL: Do You Use Your XTi's Built-In DSP Functions?
I don't have a digital xover, so for HP and adjusting the xover point I like it. But I have a separate limiter for better control than the 3db steps the xti offers.

I'm working on this one at the moment. If I can manage to make more than 2 test models, I'll send you a PCB and a parts list and/or parts.

Re: cutting metal rack panels
Harley, I'm definitely looking at getting a nibbler. I was just commenting on the Green Lee
George, I totally forgot you have a bunch of tools, I'll give you a ring when I have my holes plotted out and we'll hang out again.
Thanks guys.

Re: cutting metal rack panels
yikes, $400 for a punch!? I'm only needing to use this twice, so maybe I should just get some round switches. My other idea is to just get them professionally done. Anyone use http://www.frontpanelexpress.com ? From a rough design I did, with 14 round holes and two square ones, the price is about $7...

cutting metal rack panels
I'm making some rack panels (using the Penn blanks) to hold Speakons and some other switches and jacks, but I've got some square switches I want to use. What tool can I use to cut square holes in these metal panels? and Should I be using any certain type of bit to drill out the 1" speakon holes...
