Re: I found these subwoofers in an alley...
Which one are you talking about? I know there's an actual small rectangular port, but I'm not convinced the BFM horn mouth looking thing is a actual tuned port.

Re: I found these subwoofers in an alley...
Seems like it's more of a bass reflex than anything else. I'm no expert on bandpass designs but as a 6th order bandpass the tuning would seem to be rediculously wrong as there's no tuned port to speak of, it's literally just open on one side.

Are they really made of plastic? If so, that's an accident waiting to happen.

Re: Auto Tuba Review
To answer my own question I suppose minidsp but - 1. limiting is not a brick wall (but better than no limit) and 2. cost as much or more than the small amp required for an AT :/

Re: Auto Tuba Review
So how do you guys affectively limit these things in autos? I've not seen any auto amps that have any sort of voltage limiting, and only a small handfull with HPF/subsonic filtering. My MCM T18's complain over 20v. I imagine it would be alot more difficult to notice the sub complaining in a noisy ca...

Re: Low cost Class D pro plate amps.
They say it's rated for AES/EBU, DMX and balanced audio.... Yeah, but do you really want a power cable running right up next to your signal cable? One of the first things I remember learning in audio was to try and cross power and signal at right angles when possible and try to stay away from then ...

Re: 2 small amps or one big one?
Personally I would choose the two amp option even if only for the redundancy. Better to lose half your herd than all of it at once if an amp blows up or voice coil / wiring short circuits.

Re: 2 small amps or one big one?
chances are it was not a faulty limiter -- you were running so much current the fuses were already baking hot -- sitting on the limiter at the end pushed them over.

Re: ART Pro Audio SMS226 Speaker Management System
Recently replaced a discontinued 481 with a 260 (with some consolidation of amp channels obviously) at my church due to lack of anything with 4 inputs in our current budget. The PA+ or PA2 was a no-go since we needed 1x6 capability -- all mono with subs and 2-way array in the mix of mains, side fill...

Re: ART Pro Audio SMS226 Speaker Management System
Just curious, Anyone have any experience with this ART product, Didn't even know it existed. http://artproaudio.com/crossovers_processors/product/sms226/ Looks like they've entered the "driverack" business. Unfortunately, the price is right up there with dbx. Too bad....would like to see ...

Re: Is anyone familiar with this issue ?
I agree it looks like an amp or wiring issue
At least check the speaker with an ohm meter between terminals and from each terminal to the basket, then also test the wiring and connectors.

Could be differing pickup patterns of the mics reacting to the room modes.

Re: Which plate amp(s)?
My pair of T18's with MCM's seem to be happiest voltage limited to 22 volts or so (each), which calculates to roughly 80 watts per. Any more and you start to get power compression and unnceccesary heat, ect. SPA250 is 250w at 4 ohms or 150w at 8 ohms and is not <4ohm stable. So you'd overload both t...

Re: Kyyul's Dual Tuba HT Build
Crown XLS is a silent amp, perfect for HT. It's fans don't kick in unless it's getting pushed really hard over a long period. Bought a stack of them for my church for this exact reason after researching on HT boards; as the previous stack of QSC's was a symphony of fans coming from the FOH booth.
