+1 for www.thomann.de - I can't find a cheaper supplier in the UK for Eminence drivers (and they're not even in the UK!). Also, as an alternative to Aldcrofts, try www.bluearan.co.uk - I've used this stuff and I've heard on this forum somewhere its the exact same product. For Speakon sockets, back p...

This does indeed appear to be a good source for us here in the UK. I wish I'd known about it a couple of months back. If anyone uses any of the components from them it would be good to hear how you get on.

Cheers. Paul.

I like the extrusion on the T30 shown on the main site but I'm not sure what to do around the areas that are open, like the open area of the horn. Does anyone know what to do here? It would look crap to just have the extrusion hanging over. Bill, do you have a higher res picture of that T30 so I can...

Cheers guys. I read the description of the panel jig so long ago that I totally forgot what it was. I'll order it now.

Table saw question

I'm thinking about picking up a compact table saw, maybe off ebay. I just have a couple of questions before I do. I've seen a few with table size 500 x 335mm or there abouts. What width cut can I expect to do with one of these? For example, would I be able to do the 14" cuts required for OT12s?...

How to make it a bit easier...

Hi Here's a little tip that might help if you're building some speakers from the Bill Fitzmaurice plans. What I've done is make a copy of the plans and delete anything that isn't important to me. For example, if you're using a paint finish then delete all the stuff on carpet covering. I've managed t...

Crossover parts in the UK

I've just ordered some parts from Universal Audio Ltd. in Southend-on-sea. The number is 01702 613321 and I spoke to Tony. He was very helpful.

PS - This contact originally came from Stu. Thanks!

Sorry. I was the one who introduced the OmniTop into the post. All I really wanted to know is can you connect the amps directly to the drivers in an Omni15 (if using an active x-over) without any passive electronics in between. It appears you can. Although some may prefer to have HF protection, righ...

Yes that makes sense. I might build a pair of these after I do my OT12's. I've been interested in having a Bi/Tri amp system for a while now.

Cheers. Paul.

yeah they are 3-way so they would need xovers even if bi-amping. Sorry I should've made myself clearer. I plan to use an active xover but the OT12 plans suggest using a passive low pass filter, even when using an active crossover. I believe this is to increase the mid range response. I was just won...

Thanks for your review. They're always useful. I might think about building a pair at some point. You mentioned about having a few slightly wrong components in the crossovers. Presumably these can be bi-amped but do they still require electronics inside the cab to do this (like the OT12s)? Cheers.

No, but Adam Hall stuff is usually 'not too bad' if that helps?

Thanks for your reply. I think I'll give that a go unless someone tells me its not a good idea. I'm starting the build this week and I'll be sure to take lots of pictures and write a review up when I'm done (whenever that is :? )

If it's the same stuff I'll go with the Blue Aran paint. I've also got some other bits to get too. That website seems to be getting pretty good nowadays. Dave - when do you expect to have your subs finished? I'm just waiting for the bits for my OT112s to be delivered. I've also found a decent place ...
