Re: Omnitop12, my first

I could have worked to position everything to get better sound in the room. Honestly it sounds really good with minimum eq. My biggest gripe would have to be the high frequency extension limit that the asd-1001 compression drivers seem to have they tend/seem to fall off hard over 10khz. I would like...

Re: Omnitop12, my first

Using 1/8in sheet aluminum I kept to the ID of the horn specs, the hole is 1in, the triangle piece at the ends are actual dimensions, I just don’t have to cut angles into any of it. If I tap the horns it rings a little which bothers me I think I will get some dynamat deadening material and adhere it...

Re: Omnitop12, my first

I built a pair of dual loaded otops12, same simple stain job as always. I set the rig up in my house just for fun. i may have over done it. I am so happy about this rig.

Re: Omnitop12, my first

It’s been a while, I built some more speakers. I wanted to show off. The sound out of these cabs when coupled is awesome.

Re: 1.2 vs 1.8 crossover? pros and cons

I have built an array of otop12s, I like mine a lot, I went cd horns with the 2k crossover for cost and simplicity, if I had it to do all over I would try really hard to spring for the 1.2k configuration. I agree that when done right its a better configuration, I like the sound better personally I j...

Re: Output and Vd number crunching

What you can say for sure is that if you have two cabs with total driver Vd equal to one cab with a better driver the two cabs will have higher maximum output. Therefore if you're looking to get the most output possible the way to get it isn't with higher Vd drivers, it's with more cabs. The downsi...

Re: Low power spl bass setup in truck

For the sake of satire, and what I mean is I think it’s got a little sick humor. If I want to dick measure, those guys are spending big money to let one person at a time sit in their vehicles and demo the sound, wow that’s cool, then a handful of people see the leader board and get ruffled feathers ...

Re: Low power spl bass setup in truck

I decided it really does not matter how I stacked up in fact I actively avoided getting metered both for them to know and for me to know and even for you all here to know, it simply does not matter, my children say that the peak on music in my truck is right on the edge of to loud and so that is per...

Re: Low power spl bass setup in truck

The program at this local car audio meet has several classes and after you get placed in which ever they deem you fit they meter you for peak spl and there is a leader board chart with everyone’s name on it ordered by loudest to quietest. I went into this wanting to gain enough respect to be allowed...

Re: Low power spl bass setup in truck

All in all the build was fun, sounded great and I don’t know how I could have made the system any louder on a tight budget using the existing 700 watt amp I had while still maintaining some level of sound quality. Car audio draws a certain crowd and certain interests who am I to criticize their pass...

Re: Low power spl bass setup in truck

I used to be so fascinated by Loud low frequency sounds that created a vortex of moving air around me to the beat of music. Years ago it was my life. Once upon a time a 40hz tone could Stimulate my senses and make me happy. Today I need a little more to get my rocks off. I need a talented musician t...

Portable/pop up canopy search!!

I am going to be in the market for a nice quality pop up canopy in the near future for my DJ operation. I have had a few of the cheap ones for camping and things in the past. Those things could not handle any wind and after a year they start to fall apart pretty fast. I have seen quality ones at con...

Re: Low power spl bass setup in truck

I tinkered a little with the setting today I can low pass at 80hz 24dbslope, and dial it back and get a good crisp tight bass out of it. It’s nice!!! I can do what I said earlier and lowpass at 50hz 12dbsloped and do some has heavy bass track playback and slam the truck. Just what I think will make ...
