Re: Setting Limiters

For subs, find the listed speaker with the closest xMax to yours....use that voltage. Ah, but I wish it were that simple... For the T48: 15NLW9300 - 8mm xmax - 80V 3015LF - 9.6mm xmax - 60V Lab15 - 11.8mm xmax - 60V Definitely something else at play here. =) I'm trying to find out about the maths s...

Re: Setting Limiters

:horse: This thread has been hugely useful - thank you everyone. I'm having trouble, though, figuring out what voltage limit to use for drivers that are within spec but aren't specifically listed in the plans. My search-fu is failing me as well. Is there a formula I can plug enclosure and thiele-sma...

Re: Dbx expander.

It's just another tool in your collection.

Does it reliably improve "sound quality"? Nope.

Can it be used to improve some aspects? Yes.

What problem are you trying to solve?

Re: Getting pub smoke out of gear.

Any tips on getting the odor out? Buy an Ozone generator. Place the output tube going straight into the trailer, run the unit overnight to fumigate the entire lot and check back in the morning. If you want to accelerate the aging process on the equipment 100,000 fold, this would work. Keep in mind ...

Re: Getting pub smoke out of gear.

It probably doesn't matter for your needs, but Fabreze is highly toxic to birds. If you have any feathered pets, make sure they're nowhere near the gear during or after the application.

Re: Analog signal path

Even 700 euros is a steal for an XR18 (or X18). 10 years ago, that would have been over 10,000, taken up a couple of racks, and not sounded nearly as good.

Re: Analog signal path

Very much agreed about the XR18 and the PA2. I can't sing the X-Air line's praises enough. They sound phenomenal when in good hands, and are incredibly versatile. For your needs, I'd suggest an XR12 ( $250 new ) or an MR12 ( $450 new . Same device but with upgraded preamps, ADCs, and DACs). If you n...

Re: Thomann 4 channel t.amp TSA 4-700

I have read a lot, thought things over, compared so many amps and options of old vs new, the TSA4-700 is also on my list but I think I go with the Behringer Inuke nu4 6000, which does 4x440W@8Ohm, and 4x1100W@2Ohm and can go as low a 1.33Ohm, 11lbs and damn cheap. It is basicly 2 inukes 3000 in 1 2...

Simplexx Wedges - response curve sans lpad?

Hey there! I'm considering building a few monitor wedges. I've got the choice between 31 band and 6 band parametric EQ for all my outputs, so building without an LPad is an option. I notice that the response curves provided in the plans and in the SPL Charts section both show an attenuated tweeter. ...

Is that measured center-to-center or edge-to-edge?

I'd assume edge to edge, as a quarter wavelength at 120Hz is about 28 inches... and some BFM horns are wider than that.

Re: Amplifier advice

I second the DriveRack PA2. It's all controlled via an app (windows/android/iOS) and works great. I use mine for crossover, auto eq (sets the system and room to flat), house eq (eq to ear after the auto is done), limiting. Depending on circumstances, I'll sometimes use some subsynth (does NOT go wel...

Very impressive videos, though I'd be concerned about the electronic's longevity and the reliability of the software.

Holy hell though... it makes me want to start building right now =)

Re: Behringer

I don't know what brand amplifiers we used on the big stage at a recent music festival (though FoH had a single Behringer in a rack for a medium stage). Early in one of the big sets, a transient pushed the house amplifiers too hard, resulting in a 900 amp draw on a system rated for 600. Blew the bre...
