Re: What's to chat about?

Anyway, the second pic is what my daughter wanted, the first is what she got. Yours is better because it has her name on it. And you built it. There's a chance that my son-in-law will be heading to Kuwait for a tour in a few months. And one of my neighbor's wife will be headed to Europe as an Army ...

Re: What's to chat about?

Been working on my daughter's loft bed for awhile now. Finally got it put in her room today, in the 11th hour. Had to get it done because my wife wants to park in the garage while I'm in Turkey. Anyway, the second pic is what my daughter wanted, the first is what she got. Obviously my version is dum...

Re: A seeker wants to say hello to become a finder

J array? No, I don't think it suits your purpose. If you eneded up with 2 Otops per side, one of the great things about the Otops is they stack vertically flat (unlike the DR's and the J Array)… Once you've decided which way to go, build the subs first. Follow the plans to the letter. You'll find t...

Re: What's to chat about?

Thanks, Seth. Been super busy building my daughter a loft bed in the shape of a castle, packing for Turkey, getting the family settled. Whew! It's a ton of work! It always seems like the honey-do list gets longer when there's a finite time limit.

Re: What's to chat about?

Luckily I haven't built any cabinets that gave me an issue in this department. But that day may come. And lag bolts are a great idea as well.

Re: What's to chat about?

Totally switching gears here. But I just picked up a Dewalt right angle attachment. This is going to change my life when I build my next herd of cabs! I could see this being very helpful for attaching drivers in tight spaces.....

You can't be successful without a few haters. That tells me Bill did it right. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm good with others being non believers. That leaves a bigger pool of people for us to just totally demolish. They'll leave feeling like the prom queen who just got owned by Godzilla.

So, according to my highly scientific $10 bathroom scale the 16" T39 built with CDX Douglas Fir and loaded with a Basslite S2012 is 55lb... should be 51ish empty cab and pushing 60 loaded with a 3012LF.
Sounds about right. Mine were built from ACX, 20" wide, 3012LF, and came in at 63 lbs apiece.

Re: 2x6 SLA Pro Build

Lucky. I ordered mine online with rubber grippy backing. It did cost more than I wanted to spend, but yolo. I sprayed painted mine real good through the ports/handles, but it's still kinda gray looking. It's not as bad as looking at the wiring inside. Seth, you want a set of crossover boards I 3D p...

Re: What's to chat about?

Nice one Bruce! :D Talking about 'waiting out this virus thing', I find Cory Henry's playing quite infectious - he's new to me, in the last week. What about this?: https://youtu.be/IRNGVi0gTxk He one phenomenal musician! And I got really into it when I heard them start Smoke on the Water. Wish the ...

Another excellent build thread, Grant. They look excellent! One day I'll use this as the DR standard for when I decide to quit being a chicken and build some for myself. Thank you!

Re: What's to chat about?

What do you guys use and recommend? I've always used drywall mud to good success. Doesn't take long to dry. I've used it to mask the grain on entire boxes and it does a good job. Not much smell and sands like a dream. Although, 40 - 60 grit sand paper will eat through to the wood in seconds so I us...

Re: What's to chat about?

Looking good, Seth! Those T39s are amazing. I had no idea what to expect when I fired mine up and all I could say was WOW!!!

I had a minimal overhang issue as well and fixed it with PL. No problems since.

Enjoy, man.
