:D :D :D that's hilarious, Seth!

Just dug out my db meter. The cicadas are registering over 90db right now. Hot day, just had a little rain, and they are singing like crazy!

Re: Rivet removal?

Was even able to save a few vintage stickers I had put on here back in the … gasp… 80’s. Anyone remember the pirate in LA? And valley arts was my local music store. Lukather, Carlton, ritnour, and all the other la session guys would stop by. Good times :loler: Jan-Al case btw. They were some good fo...

Re: Soldering filters for DR200's

I downloaded an app that lets me run frequency sweeps. Hook a full range speaker (like a normal hifi speaker) to the low output from the x-over and run a sweep. It should fade out as it goes up out of the frequency range. Then do the same with the other output, should be no lows, fading in as the fr...

Re: Rivet removal?

Good grief, this is taking way more time than I ever expected. Got ONE door done today. Oh well, sun’s been shining, broodX screaming all around… could think of worse days

If the stuff you got isn't working well, I'd at least notify PE about the issue even if it may/may not be appropriate to request a return/refund at this point.
+1 PE is so good with customer service, I'm certain they'd find a way to help you out.

Re: Rivet removal?

Well, a 5/32 punch from the back side, then a small pry bar from the front to pull the stupid split rivets seemed to work pretty well. I made a lot of progress on gen3 of the big red fridge... looking more like a dorm fridge now. Still have the doors to do. With lots more rivet pulling :cussing: But...

Re: Rivet removal?

Okay, so maybe not "trunk nails" but that got me on the right track with google. Bifurcated rivets or split rivets seems to be what I'm looking at. Regardless, hoping this will eliminate a lot of drilling :hyper:

Re: Rivet removal?

I LOVE it when I learn something new. Thanks David, you are exactly right. I muscled one out trying to figure out how they worked and couldn't figure out that split. So now I know - a trunk nail. Now to find a better way to slip under the head than what pry tools I have on hand.

The rest are massive overkill.
+1 I can't imagine trying to use my otops for HT. Way too much output on tap for use in a small to medium size room. Besides, its the low-end from the subs that gives you that big cinema experience. Now if you have a 50-seat movie theatre in the carriage house...

Re: Rivet removal?

I've had this rack case forever. Used to be 28 or 32 spaces - everyone called it the red fridge. I cut it down to 14 spaces quite some time ago, but it's still big. It has two inches of foam around the inner case, plus spacers. By going with 1" foam and 13U, it will fit in my trailer much better, ab...

Re: top recommendation

I love my otops. I built 4 jarrays. Melded piezos on the bottom pair, straight on the top. They are crazy loud, but still sound great. Think hifi on steroids. I just built another pair of T30s, but probably still won't be able to outrun the tops outdoors. We shall see inside...

Re: Jack 10 LT Fin!

concerned about routing the corners to fit the small chevron. I feel I have to radius the corner so much that I will compromise the integrity of the box. When I built my otop jarrays (same 1/4" ply construction), I glued strips on the inside of the edges to ensure plenty of structural strength post...
