Re: Personal electronic music history

Well, I survived. Four days, maybe 4 hours sleep total? I don't even know, but the event was beyond amazing. The sound at the big stages was stellar. I think I counted 48 2x18 subs across the entire front, set up cardiod with FRF placement. This was also my first chance to try out some Loop Experien...

Re: Personal electronic music history

Hey all. Been out of the forum for a bit as work has taken its toll over the last 1.5 years. That being said, I am pretty damn stoked to be heading to Electric Forest in two days - EDM nirvana in the woods. And yes, Grant, i'm an old dude too ;-) Will give you my honest feedback next week if I live...

Re: DIY room treatment

Here's a completely different approach. I think I might have shared this before, but way back when one of my bands had a drummer with a kit that would take your head off, especially the snare. When playing small venues, everything got sooo loud trying to keep up with the kit (and of course, guitaris...

Re: Omnitop12, my first

I finally optioned to paint or duratex my rig. It took me 2.5 gallons with two coats rollered on. I did my six otop12s and my 5 tuba45s as well as my amp rack. The stuff is not indestructible but it sure looks nice. Easy enough to touch up too. Yay, glad to see you finally took the duratex plunge. ...

For sure. This post helped me build my little test rig that made checking the piezos for my otop arrays easy. Found a fair number of bad ones that Parts Express forgave.

Looking good, Howie. I'm curious though, as to why you bothered to paint the entire interior.

Re: Hello!

I looked at the T45, but my understanding is that I can't benefit from V-plating those because they're end firing, right? Maybe I misunderstood. That is correct and played into my decision to build T30s instead. The V-plate bonus dB was too hard to resist. I've gotten better at moving the T30s arou...

Re: Boat sub ideas?

Thanks Grant. Good grief, I've built a truck tuba. For some reason I was thinking it was wider than 24". That may just work. Laid down flat with the speaker on the bottom, how much space should be left underneath? 1"? 2"? With the open end of the horn firing into the cuddy, it might w...

Boat sub ideas?

I have a friend in Vancouver with a nice little cuddy cabin cruiser that is in desperate need of some low end. There is a step down area from the cockpit into the cabin that is about 50" long and 24" wide. However, it is only 7.25" deep. Not many other areas available to put a sub. I ...

Re: Alternatives to flat black spray for Duratex primer?

go to a big box store and ask for a gallon of their cheapest flat black paint and use a small roller to put it on. Yup, that's the way to go. As Bruce said, it dries super fast, especially if you slop it on outside in the sunshine. Greatly decreases the amount of Duratex it will take to cover your ...
