Re: smallest horn sub?

Thanks Bill, I think I'll give it a go. Even at 60" long, it will only stick out of the wall about 9" so still better than a freestanding box taking up real estate elsewhere.

smallest horn sub?

My old DBX DVC 15" sub is finally done, so am looking at building a table tuba long style to replace it. Or maybe two... While I'm at it, I'm thinking I'd like some more bass in the adjacent room/bar area but don't have much space. I built an alcove under the steps where I've had a little sub parked...

Aha, thanks Bill. I think I'll probably stick with the 8" MCM then.

Re: high outdoor speaker stands

 Oh good grief...
"As I was walking out of a local home improvement store..." :D
I still think a couple stacks of Otops 16' in the air would be pretty cool, and avoid the issue of trying to fly them.

Re: 8" vs 10" truck Tuba

Follow on question, as I've been thinking about building a trucktuba. My plans don't list the dayton LS10-44, but I just looked it up and it's specs fall nicely in the middle of the recommended ranges. Plans say with a 10" driver, minimum cabinet width should be 7" (6" internal panel width). Is that...

high outdoor speaker stands

Was coming out of Menards yesterday and noticed all their hunting blinds and such out front and had an interesting thought. They had 16' high tripod stands with a platform, seat and railing that, minus the seat, could make a pretty cool way to get a stack of DR or Otops way up high. Three big stakes...

Re: Acoustic transparency of speaker grilles

This is what I used on my OTop Jarrays. Steel, not aluminum. Percent open was less than what I would have liked, but the price was right, from Amazon at less than $20 for a sheet that let me cut our 4 grills. Painted black, it looks great and I can't notice any impact on the sound quality at all.

Re: Wedding gig advice

I have a couple long 10g extension cords just to be sure power is never an issue. If you connect cords together, make sure they can't be pulled apart. Like duct tape. Same goes for where you plug into the circuit - if you can find a way to secure the cord, do it. Also, place all cords and cables car...

t30s and otops

Ran my 2 T30s and 4 otop jarrays outside all day Friday for a work parking lot event. I was able to get them dialed in pretty good, bridging one amp for the subs and two otops per channel of the other amp. Ran them for about 6 hours with no issues at all. Looked like it might rain a couple times but...

Re: PA2 limiter setting question

As I stated in my original post, I do not have Overeasy enabled. I have the setting for as hard a knee as it can do, but I missed the part in the manual that talked about the 3db overshoot even with the hard setting, so will just back the limiter down a little bit more. We shall see how it works out...

PA2 limiter setting question

Just going through my gear this afternoon, as I will be running both Friday and Saturday this week and I am planning to bridge my Crown CE1000 to my T30s (previously ran each channel to its own sub, but that doesn't let me get to the 50v limit the 3012's can handle). I set up a new patch in my PA2 (...

Re: 2x Tuba 30 Build (First Build)

I have a pair of 20" wide T30s and put a single centered handle at 8/10 and 10/12. I purposely did not put a handle on the front at 7/8 because I thought it might look weird. I may still cut one in, or maybe just attach a some kind of small lip that would make it easier when reaching up there to roc...

Two reasons to hang out on this site:
1. Great place to learn
2. Humor
Geez, Bruce and Bill! Desperately needed a laugh today and you delivered :-)

Re: 4x OTop 12 (Delta Pro 12A + PSD2013)

9. One more thing I want to add: the side port. When I listened to music standing near the rear of OT12s, I can hear the mid pretty easy. I think it is the result of side port. Should it be the potential feedback problem when we use it in relatively small to medium indoor show? At those situation, ...
