Re: General PA Setup - not BFM (yet) Looking for thoughts

Thanks. I thought that the basic concept was the same. I searched for additional information, but every search term I thought to use was thrown away because it was too "common"... Does it matter with Direct Radiating subs if the cones are directed toward or away from the corner? Most of th...

General PA Setup - not BFM (yet) Looking for thoughts

All, I thought I'd ask here because of the wealth of knowledge and experience that Y'all have. I go to a church with a conventional direct-radiating setup. FOH mains are 4 JBL SP-215-9 (or look like them; I used to own a pair myself - sold them to build BFM) and 4 QSC KW181 that are located under th...

Re: Any Titan 48s near Huntsville Alabama?

Well, there is a pair in Statesville, NC on Craigslist with Eminence Kappalite 3015LF drivers for $500. It's about 400-ish miles, so you might be able to ship them LTL for $100 to $150... I've interacted with the guy; I just don't have the cash right now, else they'd probably be in my possession... ...

Re: Baltic Birch Plywood in North Carolina

3/4 aracuo ply has been available at hd for ages now in nc, but 1/2 has yet to surface. Again, call hood distribution in high point nc. I'm paying 28 a sheet for 5x5 at the raleigh location I called them; they told me that they don't sell to the public and to try the place I linked. The fact that y...

Re: Baltic Birch Plywood in North Carolina

I just found 1/2" 5 ply radiata at Lowes for $29 (Stafford VA). It may be making a comeback in these parts. One can only hope... The Lowes near my dad in Greensboro only had blondewood as a 5-ply... the veneer on that is so thin that it has only one side - I mean it looks like it is part of th...

Baltic Birch Plywood in North Carolina

I found Baltic Birch Plywood quasi-locally... http://hardwoodstore.com/ Gibsonville, NC 27249 has 1/8" through 1" Baltic Birch in 5 X 5 sheets... If you buy 3 or more (mix and match sizes) they give you $5 off per sheet, so that is $20 per sheet for 1/8" with the discount... 1/2"...

Re: Greeting from Charlotte

Sine, Thanks so much for the lead on the material... I'll definitely be reaching out to them when I'm ready to build the subs... Do you know if they have the 1/8" plywood for the bent panels? Yeah, not only is it bought, but much of it has been cut out... Dad is rather efficient... I'm also mul...

Re: Greeting from Charlotte

Thanks! I'm an engineer too, so absolutely, I've mulled it over, gone back and forth... yep... I've been thinking exactly that... an optimum stand arrangement that gives flexibility and is rock solid. I was planning on incorporating a scheme to allow splaying them and figuring at some point, I'll pr...

Greeting from Charlotte

Hi. I just signed up, but have been lurking here for a few years if I had to guestimate... I've started my first build of DR200's ... I sold a pair of SP215-9's to partly finance the project... My dad and I are avid woodworkers, so when Bill said "If you have the woodworking chops..." my d...
