I normally use a 30W iron...... I find that the size tip used is a bigger deal than the wattage. A fat tip that can make more contact gets things heated up really quick. And as the other said.... tin your wire, tin your post, put them together, and put the iron on them.... watch it melt, take the ir...

I got free PL!!....but will PL 200 work ok?

I was rummaging through my Dad's old shop stuff, and what did I find, but PL200..... I know it's not our favorite urethane, but I was wondering if it would work ok for gluing wood to wood in situations where airtight-ness was less critical.

Heck, the price was right.

I made a jig similar to that........ Glued mine up....... and got a buzz doing it......... 3hrs later the glue was dry, popped them out of the jig and they should be good for touch up tommorow. It worked out pretty good I'd say.....

I made a pair of Titan 39's out of wood that would make you cringe. It was some pine plywood that was more warped than the federal government........ I eventually built what looks like two pretty decent Subs... There's very functional, but don't grab the square... you may just find the warp.

Searching for Air Leaks in your horn Subs.

I found this to be really useful in searching for air leaks in my Subs........ As usual, many of us have had an extra screw hole from a temporary brace, or a seam that wasn't perfectly tight. I find the easiest way for me to find these is to Go get a very bright light, and shine it inside the sub......

The Wedgehorn.......Again.

Greetings. I've built this one a few times, and I know I've commented on it..... but I've never officially reviewed it. First off, the most recent cut of the plans are a pretty easy follow...... hooray. I find that this speaker takes awhile before the LA6-MB breaks in and doesn't sound a bit nasty. ...

20W Wirewound resistors

I figured I'd share in case anyone was wondering........ Parts Express recommended the 20W wirewound resistor with Piezos... the 20ohm model actually. I asked about this, and Bill said it was to match sensitivity with an lower sensitivity woofer. That made sense. So when I was ready to order, I grab...

You can't be Norm without a biscuit jointer and a East Coast accent. I still think it's funny when he says Drawers......sounds like "DRAWS"

Oh well......I'm sure I have a funny accent to him too.

I guess I'm a bit spoiled...... I half way inherited a wood shop with most of the good tools........ Table Saw, Miter Saw, Belt Sander, Scroll Saw, Router, Drill Press. Unfortunately it's full of Junk that my pack rat Dad collected. I'm trying to e-bay all this crap away so I can work. Count my bles...

PL and Liquid Nails made by PL and Loctite are both owned by Henkel Consumer Adhesives. Once upon a time, I fixed their printers at the main HQ in Avon OH....... then I got replaced by a German IT company.
Grr... Manco never should have sold out to the Germans.

Interestingly, I've had good luck with inexpensive GP Sanded pine. Get the stuff that isn't knotty.... and it 4 plies thick. It's a cheap alternative I like to use while I'm "mastering" a build. Now pine plywood sold as "Sheathing" is really really really bad stuff.
