Re: Alan Parson destroyed my system, AGAIN!

A pair of DR200's in the back seat should solve your problem.

The Allen & Heath QU series is digital snake capable. I am going to get the 16 because I want the mixer rackmountable.

Re: small rack case build

The backside rack rails also allow you to mount a rack power strip and not use up forward real estate. I am doing rack panel patch bays and vents on my rear rack rails completely sealing up the rear of the cases so nothing inside ever has to get touched. I will have panel mount jacks for all inputs...

Re: How bad did I screw up (down actually)?

After you have repaired your driver...

A good practice to develop when installing any driver is to use the fingers of your free hand as a wall between the shaft of the screwdriver and the cone. It is better to slip and stab your finger than to stab through the surround or cone.

Re: Speaker recone glue

Here is a good selection of glues. You won't need all of them as it looks like most recone kits nowadays come mostly assembled. http://www.simplyspeakers.com/speaker-repair-adhesives.html I spent about 10 years reconing blown drivers for the music store I worked at but kits back then came in separat...

Re: Bassiest songs you've put through your BFM system?

I guess some of us old farts just don't see the value of bass for bass' sake. I'm a 50yo fart that was a club DJ through the 80's & 90's. Back then there were around 6 genres of dance music. Now there are about 30 and most of it is instrumental only. I have to go through about two dozen version...

Re: How many different designs have you built?

Yeah, I daydream about selling an arena system with a bunch of DR300s... I haven't built anything yet but I do have the CD and the majority of the parts collected to build my basement arena system starting from scratch. 4 - DR300's & 4 - 24" T48. I do hope that the neighbors won't mind. I ...

Re: Central Illinois

I have been going a little wild in gathering parts for my build. I decided to order as much as possible through my local independent music store. I worked there on an off for 12 years and I still have my master key to the place even though I haven't worked there for about 10 years. He has been in bu...

Re: Clamp list suggestions

Frank, What you say about all types of rooms having different responses is true, and makes sense. I have no doubt you'll EQ to your room when you get there. The "hard" part is getting native response of the system flat in the first place. You could get pretty close simply by mirror imagin...

Re: Clamp list suggestions

Actually, your better off testing outdoors to get your system flatish. At least 50 feet before sound encounters any building or structure eg fence, in all directions, is the way to go. Save your setting, then tweak by ear indoors or RTA... The logistics of finding the outdoor space plus electric in...

Re: Clamp list suggestions

While I'm a firm believer in fun, trying to move a DR300 by yourself is not fun in any way. Are you just looking for STOOPID loud to produce shits & giggles? Build 2 DR250 or 4 DR200 (<my favorites). They will not disappoint... I am building four of the DR300. I have 4 temporary tops with the D...

Re: Clamp list suggestions

My question to the OP is: why are you building DR300s? Chances are EXCEPTIONALLY high that you do not need or want DR300s. They would only be recommended for very large outdoor events. Please tell us what your typical event, venue and audience size will be, and we will recommend which design and ou...

Joking...

At the moment I only have two itty bitty clamps. I am still in the list building and spending spree stages.

I do plan on using all of the jigs but I wanted to clamp them as much as possible instead of screwing them in place for things like de-warping along edges.
