Re: Faulty DCX2496

I haven't come any closer to a solution, so I have abandoned it as a repair will cost more than half of a new item.

Thanks for your help everybody.

Re: Faulty DCX2496

Sorry djtecthreat, I have being on holiday for a week.

The unit died running idle in our practice room at the school where I'm teaching. Nothing was attached to it. It was sitting in our amp rack.
The power is very stable (modern industrial-like installation) so I don't think the cause lies here.

Re: Faulty DCX2496

The caps are from xunda, value: 10 and 47 uF, 25V, 85 degrees C.
All caps are looking good. Those in PSU too.

I have asked advise in a thread on DIYAudio.com and is getting different responses; dead DSP, missing clock etc.

Re: Faulty DCX2496

@ Hackomatic. What you see on the pic is what it looks like turned ON. From here nothing works. No writing on the LCD and no output. @ Sidney and thijs666. I hate to admit it, but I think you are right. I hoped it was more simple and DIY-able. Now I have to make the decision whether to buy a new one...

Re: Faulty DCX2496

You can buy a DCX at thomann for €268. http://www.thomann.de/dk/behringer_dcx2496_ultradrive_pro_lautsprechermanagement.htm Shipping is free above €200. That's cheap! Good call. @ bgavin: Some pics (sorry about the inferior quality) http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc175/Bassnorthwood/DCX/P101002...

Re: Faulty DCX2496

Photos of the board(s) please. Look closely at all capacitors for bulging tops, leakage, etc. Cheap gear (and not cheap gear) uses CCS for caps. I have no end of these to repair on computer system boards. The caps are okay, they were the first I checked. There is nothing on the boards looking suspe...

Faulty DCX2496

There are so many skilled people on this forum, so maybe someone have a clue on what's wrong with my DCX. I bought it second hand 5 month ago and it's out of warranty. Though it's relatively new, rev 1.16. A few weeks ago it died. It looks like this (a picture of another unit): http://img.photobucke...

Re: Ideal EQ Curve for Wedge Monitors

You could check out the Sennheiser 935/945s. I haven't had any extra feedback problems compared to a B58 or 58. Also you could check out the Telefunken M-80. That is getting in some good reviews. Also, if you don't have too loud of stages the Heil PR-22 is another to look into. If you are looking t...

Re: backline 22" T39 + OT12

As a stage monitor I'd go for the Jack too, but for home practise my concern would be how prominent the mid bump is, as my GK only has four tone controls. Of course I can't tell for sure as I haven't heard the Jack. But the fact that the Omni10 was replaced by the Jack tells me what Bill will say ab...

Re: Ideal EQ Curve for Wedge Monitors

Looking at the pdf: http://www.akg.com/mediendatenbank2/psfile/datei/77/d748439aedd0055.pdf The polar plot shows the pattern as having a null centered @ 4KHz @ 125 degrees. Off center from that the rejection is less. That's right, Sidney, actually the whole 2-8kHz range is down from 125-150 degrees...

Re: backline 22" T39 + OT12

Do you use the O10.5 for bass guitar, Nordskov? If so: do you use the O10.5 alone, and what kind of bass (4 string, 5 string, fretted, fretless, music style)? Hi AntonZ. I use it with my 5-string active Sandberg, fretted. I plan on using it as bass monitor on stage, but I haven't yet had a chance t...

Re: Ideal EQ Curve for Wedge Monitors

Since this thread has gone south already :cowboy: , I have a microphone question too. I'm about to purchase a new microphone and want something a bit more sparkling than an SM58 or Beta 58A. I like the clarity of Sennheiser but my experience is that they are more prone to feedback than Sure. If it's...

Re: backline 22" T39 + OT12

It's a long time since I've been active here, but I have being reading the forum almost every day. I have finished my O10.5 and a Wedgehorn and my drummer and I are almost done with two T39's. Just waiting for the 3012LF's to arrive at Sabbelbacke (who is a great guy and very helpful). So now I'm fi...
