Re: THT Build in progress
How about building some THTLPs instead, and stand them up....less floor space. Yeah. I did forget about that option. But, this is an opportunity to experiment with a few 21” drivers. And, I’ve wanted to build some LLTs with 21s for awhile. But….THTLPs would only cost me the cost of BB. Something to...

Re: THT Build in progress
Wow. Been a minute. We’ve moved again and now my “theater” is the 5th bedroom. So, 4 of these in a bedroom with 1299s is impressive. My room response is also impressive. I was a little over 130dbs the other night. No clipping the amps. But, as much as a I love these subs. I really can’t keep them in...

Re: THT Build in progress
Lol. Yes they’re expensive. But, they’re a lot cheaper than trying to build enough subs to get sub 15hz frequencies in a concrete room. And, if you’ve never experienced Crowsons....well they’re impressive. Not sure why you felt it necessary to add a link. For other people maybe?? Either way I was we...

Re: THT Build in progress
So, it’s been a few months with all 4. I was right about the bass response. I’ve done dozens of sweeps with them in place. I still have a pretty nasty null, but everything else is better. I’ve pulled down 3 large peaks, and added 2 small shelf filters in the 42hz and 30hz areas. I’ve also got an agg...

Re: THT Build in progress
Can’t wait to play around with 4 of these. Make sure you wear brown pants. Brown pants is right. Got them all going last night. One in each corner has really made a significant difference in the bass response. I haven’t confirmed with a sweep yet, but my butt and ears tell me I’m right. I a...

Re: THT Build in progress
Can’t wait to play around with 4 of these. Make sure you wear brown pants. Lol. My room is over 7000 cubic ft, and littered with nulls. I’m currently running the two I have near field; it was the only way to really feel the bass. But, my plan with 4 is to put one in each corner and run some...

Re: THT Build in progress
Little update. Went ahead and pre-drilled the access panels. Figured it’ll be easier getting the panels in right. I also tested the cabs for leaks. And thankfully there was none. Glad all the PL I used work...went overboard. And, I’ve already got a coat of primer on and drying. Will Duratex next. Th...

Re: THT Build in progress
https://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5541 Roger!! Have a quick question regarding the access panel. Last time I built a THT I used a #10, 1.25” wood screw to attach the access panel. However, I was wondering; can I use a #8, 1.25” Recex screw? If not, no biggie. Just curious....

Re: THT Build in progress
Great! So, next question is; should I pre-drill the holes?

Re: THT Build in progress
It won't be so easy should you ever have the need to remove it. With luck you won't, but there's always Murphy's Law to consider. I made a bundle building and installing custom made replacement pre-amps into Standell amps that used pre-amps potted in epoxy, so that their components couldn't be repl...

Re: THT Build in progress
Well, I went ahead and installed the driver before I put the second side on. I used some 4 mil plastic to cover the driver just to protect it. I’ll keep it covered until I’m ready to install the access panel. Was so much easier installing the driver.

Re: THT Build in progress
So, I had a thought yesterday. I’ve reached the point in the build where the second side gets put on. But, I was wondering; can I install the drivers before I put the second side on? If not, why? Outside of possibly getting PL on the driver (not a good thing, I know); what are the other risks? I wil...

Re: THT Build in progress
@Rowan611 -- Great thread. You mentioned that your previous subs were from SVS. What model were they (I assume you used a pair?), if I may ask? How would you describe the difference in bass (and impact) of the SVS's compared to your current THT subs? Please elaborate, if memory serves you well :) I...
