1 year with the OT12's and T39's and My XF guitar cab

So, it's been a year now playing with the speakers. Puts a smile on my face every time. The clarity is just wonderful. Thought I would post some recent results. I used my Zoom H2 set on the 120 degree mic's into my Zoom Q3HD. The system is the Behringer XR18 (can't say enough about this mixer) into ...

Re: Good video on sub placement

Is there an efficiency drop using interference to force the sound in one direction or is it just that it's putting the normal interference to better use? IOW, does it take more power to get this to work? It takes more cabs and more power. In the example he uses eight forward firing subs, which cove...

Re: Good video on sub placement

Interference. When delayed (and placed) properly, the output from subs will reinforce itself in some directions while being reduced by destructive interference in other directions. Is there an efficiency drop using interference to force the sound in one direction or is it just that it's putting the...

Good video on sub placement

I learned of the following video covering sub placement from the face book page for the Behringer XR series mixers (I have an XR18). It is about 6 minutes. What is cool about it is he uses a program that via color shows the sound travel, pressure levels and cancellation area for 4 different setups. ...

Behringer XR18 mixer with our OT12 and T39

I am posting this here for a couple reasons. It is a tune from practice last night. I set my Zoom H2 in the center of the room using the 120' spread mics on it. So, live and I used no compression on it before posting. Thus it's not so much about the mix and the sound. This is our first using a digit...

Re: Opinions on setting FX sends/returns

I would always use the return... Digital doesn't change that. I pulled up the PC version of the XR18 software...I'd definitely mix with the FX1-FX4 returns...it's the only way to go. If you've got 6 vocalists going into FX1 Reverb, for instance, you want to kill them all with one fader. In addition...

Re: Opinions on setting FX sends/returns

Unless I'm running out of channel strips, I try wherever possible to put my returns back to channel strips rather than FX return section of the mixer. Better EQ, more control with channel strip faders and so on. Faders to 0 when in use, channel strip gain as required. Just drop the faders out when ...

Opinions on setting FX sends/returns

Hi, I was just wondering what is standard, normal or opinion on setting the send and returns on the FX bus. Not the channel feed to the FX but the send and return for the FX. I usually set the send to 0 and then use the return to set the level into the Mains. I ask, because I am now transitioning to...

Re: Now that I'm experienced with the system

Not bad. Little guitar heavy. Hard to hear everyone else. BTW, Bill Withers is still alive Yeah, still working on volume levels of everyone. The second guitar is the hardest as he just keep turning down. Then at times the bass turn up. I did not realize I had Joe, our singer not quite as sharp as c...

Now that I'm experienced with the system

Updated below. I thought I would post these 2 links of my band with our system of 2 OT12's and 2 T39s. My first postings were with my second time out with the system and it was outside under a tent. Now that I've had a few more months I think I'm finally getting it. This gig is in a club about 60 ft...

Re: FX 410 wide cab build

I didn't catch it but were the same model of drivers used in both cabs? One can definitely hear the difference off-axis between the two cabs. Also, it seems to be that the XF410 has more lowmid definition.....and more over-all clarity. Yes, the drivers were swapped from the standard cab to the XF. ...

Re: XF 4X10 samples compared to tradtional 4X10 guitar cab

It mostly has to do with the small room, where a lot of what's heard is reflections. The way to test them is outdoors, recording both with the mic 30 degrees off-axis. That's where the differences will be most obvious. Hadn't thought about the size of the room. But, it's too late now. I'm not going...

XF 4X10 samples compared to tradtional 4X10 guitar cab

I have put up a video of my XF cabinet comparing it to the original cab. These are both closed back cabs. You can view it here: http://youtu.be/7xcCaacIxdk I explain the setup in the beginning. I use a simple 3 chord pattern consistently. You will hear initially each cab, both mics, off axis then on...
